How did you decide which Urostomy Supply Company to use?
I recently had ileal conduit urinary diversion surgery. Now I’m ready to decide which company to get my supplies from. I narrowed it down to Austin and Edgepark. Anyone using them, and if so, how’s the service from them?

Mayo Clinic set me up with Edgepark 5 years ago after an urostomy and I find no fault in their services.
Supplies arrive exactly as ordered in the time frame expected.
From what I hear, none of the supply companies are particularly sharp. I have been using Edgepark for several years, and have found a secret weapon for getting things done despite the klunkiness of their website. The trick is to call the territory manager for your territory -- not the generic support line. My go-to person is Jen, @ 330 405 0122. She can either help you, or put you in touch with the person who covers your area.

1 ReactionI use Edgepark. No complaints but they cannot custom cut wafers— you have to match one of the sizes on the sizer card. Byram does custom cut, but only for two- piece wafers. I use a one piece Hollister system, so I just do my own cutting.

I use Edgepark too. Look into the one piece Hollister 8414, that is a one piece pre-cut. Measure your stoma to specify the pre-sized pre-cut(mine is 1"). All you have to do is stick the 8815 Adapt CeraRing to the opening of the urostomy pouch. I have arthritis in my hands and cutting the wafer was very difficult so the 8414 has been a good find.
Hi, and thanks for replying. My problem, which is certainly manageable, is that my stoma is between 3/4" and 7/8 ". Those sizes, and 1", are available precut (I buy Hollister 84134, a one-piece soft convex) but not my oddball size. I suppose I should try the 7/8" and see if I have leakage issues. If that would work, it would certainly save me some time.
@annedallas
Maybe ask your supplier to send you a sample or 2 of 3/4" and a sample or 2 of 7/8" in the 8414 model so you can make an educated choice? If you supplier will not accommodate you, then call Hollister direct asking for the samples - they are good to work with.
Not familiar with those companies so you must live other than Canada. When I had bladder removal several years ago the hospital set me up with Holister products. Since then I have tried them all and found the 2 piece Coloplast works best for me. I have had less leakage problems with Coloplast so if it ain’t broke don’t fix it.
I don’t think there is such a thing as one product fits all.
Most ostomy suppliers will gladly send you free samples to try and what ever one you choose stick with it. I find Coloplast products easy to use, including the overnight urine bag. It has a 2 ltr capacity so no need to get up during the night to empty it. I change it once a month and the day bag once a week. Hope this helps…Foss
Convatec makes a paste/filler called Stomahesive that might work for you.
I suspect there are other brands of similar products.
Mayo Clinic set me up with Byram as my supplier. Was not given a choice. That was 6 months ago. So far, everything has gone smoothly. They started me with Hollister products. Ultimately, I switched over to Coloplast products. For me, the setup was much simpler and I only had one issue with leakage. Whoever you go with is not “etched in stone”. If you run into unsolvable problems, you can always switch suppliers.
