Long Covid symptoms

Any suggestions for managing symptoms of Long Covid or possible CFS chronic fatigue syndrome?
I am 67 year old female. Prior to having positive Covid last Christmas I occasionally experienced Chronic fatigue symptoms. Since Covid symptoms have worsened where I have extreme weakness, fatigue, body aches and am unable to get out of bed all day, like today. I also experience shortness of breath or inability to take a cleansing breath. I am also affected by sensory issues of noise and light, preferring shades drawn and quiet which is difficult at times when the train goes by near our home despite living in the country or our dog barking.
Thankfully I’m retired but nonetheless find it frustrating when I’m not able to get out of bed and take care of household chores or attend social events. Husband is somewhat supportive but not completely understanding when I have days like this, 1-2+ times/week.

@robinrm Similar for me. I had 18” of my colon removed due to severe diverticulitis in April of 2022. I then contracted my first Covid infection in December of 2022 and on day 2 of the virus, I lost my taste and smell. After my Covid infection I began stuttering, had bad balance issues, insomnia, crazy brain fog, body tremors and headaches. I’m sure I’m forgetting some things, but you get the idea. After the first SGB injection, and for the 6 after, I could detect salty, sweet, bitter and spicy, but not before that. They also took my PTSD/Anxiety way down. I’m on Medicare and I paid nothing for these injections. I also was diagnosed with Hashimoto’s and Hypothyroidism after I had my surgery. I never knew I had either of these, so now I’m on medication for Hypothyroidism! The anesthesia did something to me as well (I was 66 at the time of surgery). Terrible headaches and brain fog which got even worse after I had Covid! Hopefully, one day this will all be a distant memory! Blessings to you for all the best in health!

is an injection of a local anesthetic near the stellate ganglia in the neck to block sympathetic nerves, which can be used for pain management, diagnosis, and treating certain mental health conditions. Usage examples include reducing pain from conditions like complex regional pain syndrome, shingles, and certain nerve injuries, as well as helping with symptoms associated with long COVID, PTSD, and anxiety. *

I Haven’t done it yet. I’m just doing some investigating right now, but I’m hoping to do it to help my nervous system. I’m stuck in fight and flight with long covid

@robinrm Thanks so much for this info. I too will research, and ponder. I think perhaps my nervous system isn’t as affected, thanks to being way past menopause. (I used to suffer intense anxiety.) I wish you all the best…keep us posted.

Hi, suefish here. My dr. spouse is concerned because he thinks my long covid is really a type of dementia. This group in which I’m writing had made me sure that it IS long covid. At any rate it all sucks.

@robinrm Yes, have the SGB! I’ve had 7 of them and they helped so much with PTSD/Anxiety. I am now able to walk and feel grounded, before the SGB, I couldn’t. I had these 7 done over a period of time at our Northwestern Hospital in Chicago. I became very nervous before my injections, so I asked them if I could have a Twilight Sleep drug and they obliged and the procedure went smoother. I wish you the best!

@lkirnbauer thank you for that information. Everyone I talk to discourages me for doing this. My daughter wants me to do the nicotine patches. Have you ever tried those and if so, did you get any relief or adverse effects? You’re lucky that your insurance paid for this I don’t believe mine will pay for it. It seems to be hit and miss if they work for people. Some people say they work the first time and then the second time they didn’t work at all, but I guess unless I try it, I won’t know. wishing you the best as well.
