Diverticulitis and colectomy
Has anyone had part of their intestine removed? I have diverticulitis and sometimes I still experience discomfort and constipation.

Has anyone had sigmoid colon resection? If so could you share your experience! Thanks
@lilbear getting to 5 weeks is rough. But, it will get better. I would give a couple of mth's for your body to adjust. Just make sure to eat small meals and get you fluids and protein. Every time you eat you need to walk.

2 ReactionsHello @lilbear
In addition to the discussion groups @lisalucier mentioned, I would also invite you to a discussion group on diet changes after digestive tract surgery. Here is a link to that group
--How Do I Eat After Digestive Tract Surgery?
https://connect.mayoclinic.org/discussion/how-do-i-eat-after-digestive-tract-surgery/
As @linda82 mentioned, one of the most important things to do is to eat small meals, make protein a priority at each meal, and walk a little after each meal. I gather from your previous posts that you are having discomfort. Could you explain the most bothersome problem you are currently having?

3 Reactions@hopeful33250 Yes thank you for asking! Bad abdominal pain all over but worse in the lower left side. I get very weak and dizzy in the morning to the point of almost feeling like I’m going to pass out. I had blood test done yesterday which show all my results are good. I also had an abscess that was attached to my bladder that had to be scraped and they are now thinking I possibly have a lot of nerve damage that’s going to take time to heal. Just very miserable right now.

I appreciate you sharing your specific symptoms. By sharing this, others who may have had a similar experience after surgery may offer some support and encouragement.
From your post, I don't see any pattern to the pain. For example, is it worse after meals, early or late in the day, etc.?
It does take time to recover from surgery. My first surgery was at age 53, and my second surgery was at age 55; there was a more prolonged recovery as I aged. Lots of considerations post-surgery.
Please continue to post about your progress. We are here to listen and support you.
