@teno1947 as people have mentioned the A1c does show an average that corresponds to the blood sugar for a 3 month period of time. Yours has been good / below 6.0 for the past six months yet your morning and evening blood sugars are running high. It is possible that you have had undetected low blood sugars (no symptoms and no meter readings) at other times during the day that have kept the A1c down. You could try getting some other random meter readings throughout the day besides your usual morning and evening ones to see what that shows. You could also do some tests in the night during hours of sleep (like if you wake up to pee) to see what those readings are like. Sometimes weird things happen in the early hours of the morning (dawn phenomena &/or symogi effect) that can raise your fasting blood sugar. I know extra testing is a pain in the a$$ but it can shed some light on your situation.

@cehunt57 Yesterday I had lab work and my glucose was 218 and my A1c went up to 7.3 from 5.7
