Has anyone had a spell of severe dizziness that resulted in fainting?
On Monday night, I had a severe spell of dizziness that resulted in losing consciousness. I fell injuring many parts of my body.
For the next few days, I was still so dizzy I couldn't walk without my husband's help. Today I am able to walk alone but am still dizzy mostly on the left side of my head.
Has anyone had this scary thing happen?

I recently fainted after getting out of the shower. I was reaching for my bathrobe when I lost consciousness. I don't remember feeling dizzy either before losing consciousness nor when I came to. I hit my chin and my arm, cutting gashes in both. I had fainted before but that was whenI had covid and a fever of 103. When I reported this to my PCP, she said I should go to the ER any time I faint. Now I also alternate drinking water with drinking electrolyte flavored water and before a shower I eat half a protein bar so I am not depleted of blood sugar.

1 ReactionThis is great advice. My doctor did say to increase electrolyte drinks, but Covid gave me higher blood pressure for the first time in my life and I am concerned about so much extra salt. The suggestion to have more protein is a good one. I will add that.
This episode was the most frightening symptom I have ever had...the more so because I didn't know what caused it and when, and if, it will happen again,
I fainted many times 3.5 yrs ago when the long covid hit. I believe it was hypoxia. When i stand i have to get my bearings before i move. They are referring to this as dizziness and giddiness. I lose my balance if i turn while standing. I had to rewire my brain to improve my balance to where it is now. I walk and stand with wide stance. My vertigo episodes have ended thankfully but a quick feeling of vertigo can be triggered with a certain eye movement

Fainting is so scary. Make sure u have safety precautions in place. I know im vulnerable to fainting so im very self aware of my symptoms. I always see stars before i faint and then it goes black. I have never been injured. To pass out without any warning is scary. I feel for you
R u sure u are not experiencing vertigo? U can be checked for that and they manipulate ur body positioning to get the crystals in ur ear back in place
@pdoubrava Thank you, it was very scary. I see stars and then go black too. Unfortunately I have marble floors in my bathroom and they have caused me no end of cuts on my head and face. It seems to go better when I eat half of a protein bar prior to my shower. I also sit on a built-in bench during the shower. My husband looks out for me.

1 ReactionEver since getting Covid in November last yr. I’ll get really sweaty if I’m standing in one place for too long and get really weak and feel like I’m going to pass out. I passed out once before getting Covid but now it’s worse. Three sweating and feeling lightheaded is terrible. I get the vertigo too a little bit every day . There are too many weird symptoms from Covid.

That sounds a lot like orthostatic intolerance. If you can see an autonomic specialist, they may be able to help. There are quite a few treatments ranging from compression garments for the lower body to medication, depending on which type of orthostatic intolerance you have.
