Being informed and educated about our health issues is important. As we educate ourselves we feel less stressed and we are better able talk with our medical team and to ask good questions and thereby advocate for ourselves. This discussion group, Learning About Parkinson's will provide you with links to some good webinars to keep you informed on the latest research.

Interested in more discussions like this? Go to the Parkinson's Disease Support Group.

On Friday, June 13, The Davis Phinney Foundation will be hosting a webinar, discussion the emotional and mental health issues that come with a diagnosis of PD. The discussion will center both on the PD patient as well as the caregivers. Here is a link with registration information. You can register for the webinar, even if you are not available to attend on Friday, as a link to the video of the session will be available to you and you can watch it a later date.

I am in the early stages of Parkinson's. The tremors in my hands have progressed to a point where they cannot be hidden from public view.

Hello @marciokjx5445pe and welcome to the PD support group on Mayo Clinic Connect. I can understand your concern about the visible tremors.

As you said, you are in the early stages of PD. Have you begun medication yet? What treatments has your doctor suggested for the tremors?

You might find it helpful to familiarize yourself with other treatments. Here is a link from the Mayo Clinic website that lists the different medications and treatments available for PD:

Is your ability to walk and have good balance still OK? Any speech or swallowing problems?
