I had this for years. Scopes, turned up nothing. I finally got a hemotologist to look at thing while it was happening. 2 months ago I was diagnosised with Meylofibrosis. Im just starting treatments . Its going to be a long road.
I suggest getting a bone marrow biopsy to rule out any disorders .

I have the same situation! I am severely anemic and had to get a emergency blood transfusion. It never raised my anemia and now amd getting iron infusions. I also have crohns disease and the drs thought the blood loss might be from that. I got MRIs and cat scans to try and find the source of the blood loss. Long story short, the tests did not show the source of where the blood loss was coming from. They still don't have a anwser for me..

See a hemotologist. Rule out bone marrow disorders for sure

Scheduled an EGD and colonoscopy.
I have seen somewhere in notes that it may be nutritional anemia but haven't had any specialists confirm that yet.
they's like to have the suggested procedures done first.
The hematologist specifically is interested in the results.
I will jot down your ideas in my list of questions.
I know you are not diagnosing, but I haven't heard of red cell destruction or lack of production or hemolytic anemia.
In my opinion, these terms are important to bring up to my docs in order to broaden my awareness and knowledge and hopefully help take the fear out of the new direction my bod is taking me in.
Knowledge is power, right?
thank you!

@jacqjovi Hi and welcome to Mayo Clinic Connect. To answer your question or thought, no one on MCC is a medical professional so we’re unable diagnose.
Your niece is probably in the best place for her; she can be monitored for at least 24 hours. Your niece should be the one to tell you what her diagnosis is. You live in the UK so some of your rules and regulations are probably different than in the US. We have a HIPPA law here which very clearly states who can or cannot receive health information. It can be very difficult not knowing. Some of the other members may give you suggestions of what is wrong but don’t go looking up everything on google. Just wait. BTW, how old is your niece?
You are her aunt and she’s very lucky to have you! You want to be the person she can always turn to.

I have no sign of blood loss either. I had a blood transfusion and it didnt up my levels at all and I got a terrible reaction to it and ended up staying in the hospital for 4 days w a 104 fever! I did end up getting 6 iron infusions.. 1 every week for 6 weeks. It did help a little bit. Raised my(iron/hemoglobin/feritin/platles..ects) levels a little bit so im not in the "red zone" but still low and feel the exact same. Im seeing my hematologist soon for another blood test..hoping my levels havent gone down again🤞🤞hope the best for you! But I think you do have low iron.. the hemoglobin and feritin are for iron .. I think? Ill have to look at my ppw. I think your platelets are low too... 200s is kinds low ( i think! I want to look at my ppw to be sure) my labs tell me next to every result what the range is and will be highlighted if something is too low or high

I have! I had such a serve case of anemia that I had to get a immediate blood transfusion in the ER. I ended up having a reaction to the transfusion and had to stay in the hospital for a few days and it did nothing to raise my iron levels. I ended up getting 5 iron infusions, 1 a week. And that did help raise my levels. Im still on the lower side but I was originally 6.5 but after the infusions I was around 11. I had a few other things that were low that my hematologist was concerned about and getting the iron infusions helped w those things too. I dont have any ppw w me right now but if interested I can check and lyk what my last blood test checked for and the results after the infusions.

I would think your dr would tell you if you had results that were too low?
