My dad is stooped, uses a walker, and is mostly through his 95th year. He passed his driver's test las March on his birth month. Can happen to the best of us. However, there is more to driving than mere vision. There is the all-important ability to quickly assess a situation and to react as quickly..................AND...................appropriately. My dad has had to small fender benders in the past five years, one of which was clearly a result of momentary confusion. He braked during a green light when he was first in line and the pickup behind, who was too quick to accelerate, crashed into us.

With the conditions the originator states, I would not place myself in the position of having to be denied the license. As many others have responded, you can get a state-issued ID that is perfectly legal and acceptable which does not involve driving.

@gloaming lilyann here, i did go today. did pass and i have no intention of driving. thing is, i researched how much an ID cost and it was the same price, so i thought.........well, just give it a try and if not......really nothing lossed. i do know my limits and i wouldn't want to hurt anyone out there on the road. i am so happy to hear what everyone has to say and been so helpful and kind and funny. laughter is the best medicine. take care and God bless everyone.

@gloaming lilyann here, your dad sounds like he was a strong man with determination. i think all of us have those senior moments. i thank you for sharing your story and helping me reach a solution to my worriesome problem. i did go and pass today and was happy to get it over with instead of waiting till closer till my b/d in dec. that was part of the worriment to be denied and then that would even be more pressing. like not passing a test in school. i just felt some kind of power this morning however, i was still not planning on going today, but ended up paying some important bills at the courthouse......so...just did it and maybe i will rest better tonight. stay strong and blessed.
