few questions about LCIS
Hello! I'm Malena, (44 years old, perimenopausal,"third-degree relative with a history of canceR) and I’ve been diagnosed with LCIS. I have a few questions:
How effective is treatment with tamoxifen 5 mg for LCIS?
In my country, 5 mg tablets are not available. Do doctors recommend splitting a 10 mg tablet, or taking 10 mg every other day instead?
How effective is omega-3 supplementation in preventing breast cancer?
Is it recommended to undergo genomic testing? (I don’t have children, only a niece.
Best regards....

Hello Malia,
I was diagnosed two years ago with ILC in right breast and LCIS in left. Had lumpectomy on right, but no surgery was recommended (here in NYC) for the LCIS. What country are you living in?
Different situation than yours, as I’m post-menopausal but may soon be switching to tamoxifen. It was prescribed to me as 20mg daily.
I take several vitamin supplements, including Omega 3. Not sure if it’s directly helpful at preventing cancer, but tamoxifen should offer you reasonable protection. It’s my understanding that genomic testing is only somewhat helpful, but worth doing if your doctors recommend.
