SCS incision with large painful scar tissue

Posted by daxel79 @daxel79, Oct 15 9:14pm

I had an SCS implanted 2yrs ago and within the past couple months the area where the incision was made to place the battery(lower left flank) has become very painful! There’s a very large lump of scar tissue building up. It’s so tender to touch, I can’t lie on my side or sit in certain positions or it rubs up against my bottom rib. Is anyone else dealing with this? Do they have to do surgery to clean it up? Any other recommendations?

@daxel79 I'm so sorry to hear of your suffering 🙁 It sounds like a possible infection - please don't play around with that. I had a massive septic clot in my elbow once after surgery and 6 weeks later I was emergently pulled back in to drain it all out. My arm has never been the same since - that's where the CRPS developed, too. I pray that in your case it is only scar tissue pressing on something it shouldn't. Either way, my reps/Dr's always said if there was a problem to report it and they would deal with it (i.e. surgically or however need be). I hope you can get full relief SOON!!! Sending prayers your way!
