Has anyone experienced swelling of the stomach after liver donation?

Has anyone experienced swelling of the stomach after liver donation? It's been 8 months since I donated my liver to my dad and my stomach is huge. I've never had a big stomach. I'm desperate to hear about people post donation. I feel like its often oversimplified and it hasn't been easy for me. Anyone else?

@bugersone, Welcome to Connect. I am sorry to read that you are having some difficulties after your partial liver donation.
You write that it has been 8 months since you donated part of your liver to your dad. As a recipient, I'm not familiar with living donation and so I had to look for some information. I read that "You'll likely need to return to your transplant center for follow-up care, tests and monitoring several times after your surgery. Transplant centers are required to submit follow-up data at six months, 12 months and 24 months after donation. Your local health care provider may conduct your laboratory tests one and two years after your kidney or liver surgery." https://www.mayoclinic.org/tests-procedures/living-donor-transplant/about/pac-20384787
@rebekahinvt, @lwilkey, I wonder if you have had any stomach swelling after your living liver donation? Do you have any suggestions to share?

@bugersone, Have you discussed this with your transplant surgeon? Are you experiencing any pain? When will you be having a follow-up appointment?

Hi, I hope you're doing well now. Were you able to determine the cause and get it treated? My mom's having a similar issue after liver donation

@izza, I have a simultaneous liver and a kidney transpant, and in my situation, I had some swelling early after my transplant, however I was very swollen (legs, feet, abdomen) prior to transplant due to the ascites and edema. So after the immediate relief from the edema and ascites, it took a little while to completelyreturn to normal.
How long ago was your mon's surgery? Has she been scheduled for follow-uo appointments to monitor her condition?

@izza, I'm tagging fellow liver donors @bugersone @dolson916 @rjrlmn @rebekahinvt and @lwilkey to bring them into this discussion to share about their recovery after donating a liver to a transplant recipient.

Izza, how is your mom doing? Has the swelling descreased?

Hello!

In Feb 2019, I donated the rt lobe of my liver to a woman I met on a plane to Spain in 1983 (and whom I never saw again until shortly before our surgeries). I had an extremely easy and quick recovery and have suffered ZERO repercussions/complications from the donation. I enjoyed my donation experience so much, in fact, that in April 2021, I donated my left kidney to an anonymous recipient.
