For mild/moderate COPD, does Mullein tea/tincture help clear lungs?

Posted by minnie528 @minnie528, Sep 5, 2024

Background-RLower lobectomy 8 months ago Stage 1A NCLC w/mild to moderate COPD/Emphazima (not being treated for). I guess I'm still having post surgery effects from lobectomy as far as right rib discomfort, chest tightness, but experiencing some shortness of breath depending on what I'm doing, so I guess I attribute that to the surgery, but also the COPD. I was a smoker for decades, & I still smoke 4-6 a day after no success with patches. Has anyone used Mullein to loosen mucus & to clear lungs, help with breathing etc? You can use it as a tea or a tincture. I want to try it, but am wondering for COPD, have you tried it? I want it to be safe, but effective

I use a mullein and thyme vape instead of smoking cigaretts. It has helped me quite smoking and I find it soothing as far as my lungs are concerned.

@jillzizzo29 Where do you get the vape with that combination?

I to am wanting to try Mullein for COPD. I was given an entire plant with roots from a good friends garden. I am just trying to get knowledge as how to use each parts of it. I dried the leaves and stock with flowers and have saved the roots with new growth for planting my own. I have heard that the leaves must be filtered for tea as the hairs will irritate the throat. what about the stem and flowers. I was also told you could smoke the leaves? any one with this knowledge out there.

@tammylopez well I don’t think anyone with COPD should be smoking anything, that’s definitely a question you need to ask your doctor. Someone told me drink the tea they heard it helps so I did but i didn’t feel any different as far as helping my breathing, but everyone is different and as far as the tea it can’t hurt

Evening folks. Here’s the Cleveland Clinics article on mullein:
https://health.clevelandclinic.org/mullein-benefits
I just ordered the organic, non alcohol tincture of mullein leaf and flowers. Let you know my opinion in a month.
Denise96 I take two organic oil of oregano caps daily. It
has anti microbial, antifungal and antibacterial properties. I take it along with Roflumilast 500 mcg, and Trelegy prescribed by my awesome pulmonologist .

@ktf Btw the oil of oregano often leaves an after taste to combat it- 10 mins after I take 1/2 tsp sodium bicarbonate in 1/2 glass warm water or I take Brioschi which is also sodium bicarbonate but fizzy. Also good for heartburn - fairly cheap and not a pharmaceutical.

@johnnydale52 I buy mine at Full Leaf Tea Company online because I like the loose tea. I have seen tea bags at Sprouts, if you have a Sprouts near you. I bet Whole Foods has it. Google it for your area. Hope you find it. I believe it helps me with thinning the mucus. I also just ordered congestion relief tea from Full Leaf Tea Company. Happy so far with the company.

I have been using it for asthma and mild emphysema with residual SOB and cough due to covid a year ago. Its helping greatly with 500 mg caps with a big meal. My stomach had to get used to it and never take on an empty stomach it will cause nausea then.
With food an extra water its working well I dropped down to one inhaler from two and can sleep better and longer than 2 weeks ago when I started it. Bought on amazon.
