Introducing Brinsupri - Dr Chuck Daley video
Dr. Charles (Chuck) Daley speaks about BRINSUPRI (brensocatib) in a way that is incredibly reassuring.
He explains:
⭐️why the drug is considered safe,
⭐️why it’s not thought to suppress overall immunity, and
⭐️how it will also be used at National Jewish Health for people with NTM lung disease.
Let me say, Dr. Daley is truly one of the best teachers out there. He has a gift for breaking down complex topics with clarity and depth.
I found this video uplifting, and I think you will too!
Hopefully yours,
Linda Esposito

I just received an email from the Bronchiectasis and NTM Association with the following news:
"Today, Insmed Incorporated announced that its new oral medication, brensocatib (Brinsupri), was approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration for the treatment of bronchiectasis and the first dipeptidyl peptidase 1 (DPP1) inhibitor.
Brinsupri is a once-daily pill that targets inflammation to help reduce exacerbations, or flare-ups, which may slow the decline of lung function. Talk to your health care provider about whether new treatment options may be right for you."
I just sent a copy to my pulmonologist to get her input. This is exciting news!

5 ReactionsReceived a response from my pulmonologist as follows:
"Thanks for sharing. $88K/year! "
Maybe after time on the market, things will hopefully change. (trying to think positive!)
Let's hope for a drug that could shrink our widened airways, that would be our dream for now.

1 ReactionHi Irene!!! Next year you might want to livestream the National Jewish patient conference. When the doctors weren’t speaking, they were answering hundreds of questions.
Enjoy the day,

5 ReactionsAnyone understand ----
Since brensocabit targets neutrophils, if neutrophils are generally normal, does brensocabit still work?
Thanks!

3 ReactionsThank you Linda for giving us the site to watch Dr. Daily's talk again.
Listening to it again and hearing things I missed in the first go around of listening to it.
I will probably listen to it a third time.
Such a great talk and explanation of many things.

1 ReactionYes, it does. Having elevated neutrophils is not a requirement for taking the drug.

4 ReactionsLinda, Thank you so much for sharing! SO interesting!!! The fact that the big pharmaceutical companies are now researching BE drugs is so encouraging. I am really excited about the phage treatment, and it sounds like we will know so much more in 3-5 years. Also, the structural element of NJH and the centers-interesting that many of the NJH patients are coming from the more local centers. I listened to the BE NTM Patient Conference on Saturday, which was very long but will post when I get the video. Kathy
