That’s really strange, Ativan’s a narcotic, And they really tightened up on prescriptions for it in the last couple of years. It’s not really for treating blood pressure issues.
I take metoprolol to Keep my heart rate From speeding up. My wife takes Ativan occasionally for anxiety, they won’t give her prescriptions often because some people can get hooked on it.

The Metoprolol was given to me off label for anxiety that was also causing a lot of heart palpitations, not blood pressure. Early in my treatment I was constantly having minor Afib episodes because my anxiety was through the roof. My GP thought a beta blocker would be helpful because it would slow my heart down and reduce the physical symptoms and, for the reason you said, because it's not a narcotic. I was only on it for 60 days, 30 days at 1 mg and then 30 at 1/2 then didn't need it anymore.
