NJH and bronchiectasis
Hi all,
Does NJH accept patients only with bronchiectasis being diagnosed? As I am reading, it seems to me people go to NHJ mainly for NTM consultation. So far I have not been diagnosed with NTM.
Since I haven't had bronchiectasis under control, I am thinking of going to NJH for their recommendations. But I am not sure ---
1. Does NJH accept the patients without NTM, only without bronchiectasis so far?
2. Do you get to choose the pulmonologist and ID or NJH assigned you?
3. If you can choose your pulmonologist and ID, any recommendation for doctors?
Thanks!

How are you feeling without Advair? How long you stopped using it?
Thanks!
Ling
I stopped using advair 2x/day & airsupra as rescue on 8-24-25 & I feel fine. It may be medically necessary for some with certain respiratory ailments - but as I understand it, steroid inhalers are not indicated for BE
I believe my Dr forwarded pulmonolgy records to NJH - i'm not sure if NJH can read the local mychart records. If you call NJH they can answer that question
Thank you again for being so responsive.
I feel our situation is a little alike. I hope I can find all the answers I need at NJH.

1 ReactionI went to both Mayo (April) and NJH (May). Both were excellent. I have CLL, Bronchiectasis, CFTR-RD and immune deficiency. NJH (and Mayo) got me on a plan that is good. I plan to go there 3-4 times a year with the Oncologist and a Pulmonologist that specializes in CF and Bronchiectasis. I had the same exact tests and appointments that you outlined. Very thorough!

3 ReactionsYeah, as I think a little more, I have to beome a NJH patient first then I can link the records.

1 ReactionAfter you go to NJH do you return to going to your local BE specialist? I have one at NYU but NjH seems much more thorough.
It is a very thorough experience.
The ILD Dr. at NJH directed my local
Pulmonary clinic at UCSF on next steps. That seemed the most practical thing to do.
That has been ok but what’s lacking is the collaborative culture between specialists.
I experienced something similar to that at NYU with Dr. Schattner more than 20 years ago.
@robot,
Did you do a 6 minute walk at NJH, then they decided that you didn't need the oxygen supplement? I wonder what they were based on and how are you supposed to deal with it if it happens again?
Thanks!
