Any advice on wigs, eyebrows/lashes for daughter’s wedding?

Posted by kao60 @kao60, Jul 29 2:25pm

Hello,
I will be in the midst of chemotherapy during my daughter’s wedding in October and will be losing my hair. I am at a loss as to where to begin with searching for wigs, lashes, and eyebrows.
Thank you,
K.O.

Some cancer centers have a wig shop. I bought mine over the internet. I don't love it, and think it's obvious that it's a wig when I look at myself. But it's a pretty good replica of my original hair, and other people, even those I know well, can't seem to tell the difference. At first I thought they were just being nice, but I've realized they really can't tell.

I wear mine whenever I go out of the house, particularly if it's cool out. But after my most recent episode of hairlessness I switched to a very lightweight cap or just going out with my scalp still showing because it was too hot. It's miserable to wear the wig in the heat.

My friend just went through the same, she wore very pretty flowing scarfs at gatherings. Maybe not for you, but just a thought. Most everyone knew what she was going through. She also wore her best smile. Best wishes for a beautiful wedding.

My sister did lash strips and a wig for my nieces wedding. She didn’t love the feeling of wigs so mainly wore cute hats, scarves
But for wedding pics, she wanted a fun look

@naturegirl5 @kao60 I just attended my daughter’s wedding 3 days ago! While I hadn’t had any chemo, the surgeries and radiation had affected my quantity of hair and eyebrows were very thin. I had professional makeup down, including fake eyelashes, and it was worth every penny! I agree - have a trial so you know exactly what look you like. I preferred less heavy. Best wishes to you!

@dlgbb Thank you for the update. Thank you for sharing these beautiful photos. For anyone who doubts what professional makeup can do I'm going to recommend that they give it a go. And yes, do the trial first. My hair stylist told me that is what bridal parties do so why shouldn't the mother of the bride do the same?

All best to you and your daughter and new son-in-law!
