I've not tried it, but a friend reported substantial benefits. I am interested in the potentials of psychedelics for treating depression. Full disclosure: I was into the Grateful Dead for the last dozen years of their career, attended my share of shows, and thus have ample experience with them. I self-medicated my lifelong depression when I was young with alcohol and no small list of other substances. I have horror stories about all of them (and advise against them) except psychedelics, which always left me in a good place for a while afterwards. So I feel there's something to this. I'd like to see more research. Given my drug history, I opted against it when my depression reached the near terminal phase, but that was a personal decision. I'd say speak with a couple of providers to get more than one opinion. But do approach it with caution if you try it. Psychedelics are not minor substances.

@depressedbutnotdead Thank you for sharing this information and for your advice. I agree with you. It's important to speak with more than one health care provider about ketamine. The early data that I have read in research reports looks promising but like you I'd approach ketamine with great caution. I'd also want to know if my health care policy will cover a ketamine infusion.
