Relining the aorta

I am having a thoracic endovascular aortic repair on 1/25/2017. Dr. said he could do it through the groin and that I needed about 10 inches of the aorta relined. I guess this is not uncommon but I have never heard of this and am a bit frightened. I had a abdominal aortic anyurism repaired this way in 2016. It turned out good with no problems. Has anyone else had this done and would they tell me how it went?

I did a quick google search of "relining the aorta" and most search results point to publications by Mayo Clinic's Dr. Pochettino. @crhp194 @shakuni11, do either of you have experience with aorta relining?

I do not know about relining. But I do know that Dr Pochettino is the best. He does complex surgeries like rebuilding the aorta arch which few can do. I had open heart surgery to fix an aneurysm and rebuilding the arch in May 2016. Please see my other posts in this same group. I also am going to have an endovascular repair sometime this year and have an appointment with Dr Pochettino in February. After that, I should know more and if you want, ask me about February 20th.

Thank you for your reply. I feel better just reading your post. My problem is not as sever as yours was so I can be grateful for that. My repair starts just below the arch and will be about 10" of relineing.. When I posted it was getting closer to surgery day and I guess I just wanted to talk about it. I spent yesterday getting all my pre-op's done and today I have surgery at noon. I will be in ICU for about 3 days and then home. I was so busy after I read your post I couldn't respond or go back and read your other post's. I am so grateful that I do not have to be opened up like you. That has to be a very hard recovery. I am in Gainsville Florida at Shands hospital. Thanks again.

Wishing you the best and am sure you will be fine. I do not know about the relining of the aorta but I also had heart surgery by Dr. Pochettino and cannot praise him and his staff enough. I consider them Surgery Angels. Let us know how you are doing and just know to take it slow and easy and you will be well again in a shorter time than you expect too.
