Waiting for a transplant probably feels like an eternity. Thank you for sharing your story; I'm so glad that you've come to Connect where you will find a community who cares, and is ready to extend support and good wishes to you.

@oohlalalita, we applaud your sister for being there for you. How long have you been on the transplant list?

@oohlalalita, My name is Rosemary. I am happy that you have come to Connect for support; I believe that you will find many stories of hope as our members read this discussion. You and your sister are fortunate to have each other.
I am a liver/kidney transplant recipient. I transplanted in 2009 at Mayo, Rochester. I was diagnosed with a liver disease which after nearly 8 years progressed to cirrhosis and end stage liver failure. During a spiraling, out-of-control, course of my disease, I suffered acute renal failure. I was on dialysis for around 8 weeks (3 days per week) up until my transplant. I am here to talk to you and to offer any support that I can from my experience.

Thank you for your thoughts and concerns, I actually got almost 7 years added to my wait time, hopefully that helps inshallah, this waiting time is a calling to my patience levels. One door closes a window of opportunity surely appears...

Bless you for sharing your story. I can not even begin to imagine waht you are going through or have been through at such a young age, but I will tell you that you are in great hands. I have had many procedures and surgeries at Mayo in Rochester and always knew that I would be well taken care of, and treated with the utmost respect. I was on the transplant list briefly with one possible donor that didn't look likely. When I was placed I also found out the direct cause of my particular kidney damage and was able to decrease the impact within a year. I was taken off the transplant list. I have been stable for over a year. I know that the damage will increase over time, and when it reaches the critical stage again, we will address it in the most appropriate manner. You are in the best place and I will you well. You deserve to feel good.

Oh indeed having a donor is wonderful but I'm B- and my possible donor is from South America and for some odd reason that invoices complications, but cross match is the next step. I have been blessed with 6.5 years of additional waiting time, so all it is pretty much just waiting for a phone call God willing:) I really appreciate your thoughts and concerns...ty

I am so sorry to hear this.. I do not have issues with my kidneys so I have nothing to offer except to say that I will be praying for your speedy recovery. Also to tell you I love you and I know a lot of people reading this feels the same way. Thank you so much for your input, unfortunately I have no family that's willing to donate for my cause, so I'm waiting on a kidney through Mayo God willing... But thank you for your thoughts and concerns Hun...
