Two different types of lung cancer

Posted by shortshot80 @shortshot80, Jan 6, 2017

Mesothelioma, It has been a several months since i wrote in here: This last several months has been a very bad time for me. I fell, landed on my "fake' knee in August, middle of September I started to fall in the house. Rest of Sept, all of October I fell a lot. One of the times I broke my left wrist in two places
Some how my right leg decided to stop working.I also had a severe fainting episode.which lasted about 4 days in the hospital. Don't remember most of it.
Nov. 1 is when I broke my wrist and then the hospital. Depression has also reared it's ugly head. Am now visiting with a doctor couple times a month.
Anyway a month ago i was in a wheel chair, two weeks later a walker, now at cane. Next I have been doing physical therapy. I saw my cancer doc yesterday and I walked in. Had my cat scan last week, Doctor told me yesterday that I looked better acted better than the last several months. Also no growth to either of the two lung cancer. No growth in either lung. Left lung is Meso right lung just plain cancer. I'm doing better but still have a long way to go. I am 83 years old, I was diagnosis January 22, 2016. I feel better with all the stuff i'm going through.
Just had to get this crazy report done. Nancy Thanks for listening!

Hi Nancy: I am so pleased to hear from you! I appreciate your report about your last month. I'm so glad to hear about your 85th birthday - that is wonderful. I'm also glad to hear that you are losing some of the water weight and feeling better. The small meals that you are eating are probably a good thing. I have a hard time with a regular size meal and tend to eat small, frequent meals as well.

I am sorry to hear about your granddaughter's husband with Burkitt Non Hodgkin's Lymphoma. I did not know much about that, but I looked it up on Mayo's website. Here is a link with some more information about it, https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/non-hodgkins-lymphoma/symptoms-causes/syc-20375680. I do hope that he is able to tolerate the chemo treatment well.

You mentioned some time ago about your daughter-in-law having lung cancer. How is she doing?

I look forward to hearing from you again.

Teresa

June 14/ 2018...shortshot80) Hi Teresa, Things are getting somewhat better. My husband Bob's celebration of life was just beautiful on June 2. He passed on May 4. House is lonely, but that will change in time. My treatments are going ok, am on Immune therapy now and have had three treatments so far.. Next one on the 21st June. My daughter in law Joy, now has brain cancer along with the lung cancer. It is time that I get back in here and visit with folks. My book I'm working on is "1971 I started fishing commercially with my husband in a small 22 foot boat called a "Dory". We fished weekends and vacations from 1971 to 1987 when we moved to the coast. Then fished till the early 1990's and I went to work at a grocery story for about five or six years. Still working on this, hopefully I can get it done soon. More later, Nancy

@shortshot80 Hi Nancy:

I'm so glad to hear that your husband's Celebration of Life went so well. That was important to you and your children. I'm sure that your home will seem lonely for a while to come. If you feel like writing about your grief and loss, please feel free to join our discussion on grief at, https://connect.mayoclinic.org/discussion/loss-and-grief-how-are-you-doing/

I am also glad to hear about your Immune Therapy. Do you have any side-effects from it? I hope that it continues to help you. I'm sorry, though, to hear about Joy's brain cancer. You had mentioned her lung cancer some time ago and this has to be very disappointing to now learn of brain cancer as well.

I'm excited to hear about your book. It sounds like you and your husband had some nice times with commercial fishing. What a great idea to put your memories in writing.

Take care and post again when you have time,

Teresa

WoW Life is an adventure and it sounds like you are facing all of those challenges head on. I can relate as I took care of my husband this past winter after 15 fractures and a brain injury. I can tell you this, there is HOPE. Keep up the great work, look up at the sky and keep moving. You are in our thoughts. It sounds like you have a great team of physicians and support network. You deserve a cyber hug.

Hello Nancy. I just became a mentor for Mayo Connect! I have been reading over some posts that I had not read before. You really got hit over the head with a lot, all at once. This past year has been like that for me too. But right now I'm in a holding pattern and savoring every minute, with my fingers crossed. Will you bring me up to date on how your are doing and if your medical team has discovered the reason for all your fall? I hope that you are doing well.
