Anyone have suggestions for getting a valid form of ID for someone who is homebound? Notary can come to him to sign legal documents but requires valid ID. License expired years ago and state ID requires a trip to the department of licensing. Passport also expired more than 20 years ago.

Our state automatically sends an ID w/photo when the license is taken away. Was the license cancelled or did it just expire?

Our state automatically sends an ID w/photo when the license is taken away. Was the license cancelled or did it just expire?

It expired. I'm in Washington state and you must request an ID in person. I love that your state just automatically sends the ID. Maybe if we had canceled the ID that would have happened here but it never occurred to me at the time to look into that.

It expired. I'm in Washington state and you must request an ID in person. I love that your state just automatically sends the ID. Maybe if we had canceled the ID that would have happened here but it never occurred to me at the time to look into that.

Check with your attorney - for many purposes, expired passports and Driver's licenses can be acceptable ID

I had a social security card and Medicare card accepted for my elderly aunt with expired and lost license. In Ohio.

An interesting problem.

These days, when identity theft is more common, I imagine many places are reluctant to accept alternate forms of ID. I used to make ID cards for a large university, and we would not accept a SoSec card as ID. That was 40 years ago.

Have you called the DMV or whoever issues ID cards and asked them how to solve this? You can't be the only person who's dealing with this problem.

The passport sounds like the only choice. All up need is a photo that complies with the requirements explained in the passport application and you can mail it in. If you pay $100, you can get RUSH processing. Do you know any photographers the will make house calls? Call a local agency for the aged. They might have someone that does it. That is what I did for my mother. Bon voyaage! Good luck.

The passport sounds like the only choice. All up need is a photo that complies with the requirements explained in the passport application and you can mail it in. If you pay $100, you can get RUSH processing. Do you know any photographers the will make house calls? Call a local agency for the aged. They might have someone that does it.
