Please help me get to the right group. I just cold turkeyed getting off Zoloft after 18 years of ad, once given to me for menapausal mood swings. I began taking 1/2 dose by taking one every other day and then mid December my husband and I took our boat over to the bahamas for the holidays and I forgot my medication. I’ve been off of it now for three weeks. Being on a boat with diarrhea, insomnia, night mares, mood swings was not a good way to go. Now in my third week i ache all over and can’t stop crying along with the previously mentioned symptoms. Help. How long will this last??

Hello @michellec53, welcome to Connect. You may also want to check out the following discussion titled "Tips on minimising withdrawal symptoms for Effexor." Even though the title of the discussion is centered around Effexor, many members do talk about also using Zoloft, https://connect.mayoclinic.org/discussion/tips-on-minimising-withdrawal-symptoms-from-effexor-aka-venlafaxine/. It may also be beneficial to start a new discussion on withdrawing from Zoloft specifically. Here is how you can do that.

Go to the Depression & Anxiety group here, https://connect.mayoclinic.org/group/depression-anxiety/.

- From the Group’s homepage, click on the grey box that reads START A DISCUSSION
- It is located just under the blue DISCUSSIONS tab
- Type a brief title, but be descriptive so that other members know exactly what you will be discussing
- Type your message. This is where you can type in more detail about what you are experiencing or have questions about.
- In the bottom right corner from where you just typed your message, click the grey CREATE DISCUSSION box.

@michellec53, I am not a medical professional, but my advice would be to speak with your medical provider about the proper way to taper from any prescription, especially when you have been on the medication for a long period. Have your symptoms got any better?
