Need help! Depression and anxiety

Posted by pirateking @pirateking, Jul 22, 2016

I don't know where else to go without going to a hospital. I've always had issues with depression and anxiety. It is tough to deal with, but I have a grasp of what it is at least. I've been taking 10MG of Lexapro and 1-1.5 MG of Klonopin to treat it. My psych doctor died in January and I started with a new doctor that upped my Lexapro to 20MG and put me on Buspar for anxiety.

She then decided to take me off the Klonpin. She had me go from 1-1.5 to only .5 a day a month ago and then cut me off. My anxity was already starting to increase that month, and a few days after I stopped the klonopin I faced massive panic attacks among a ton of other issues. It took some begging for help until she eventually put me on .5MG of Atavan but I don't think it is working.

My current symptoms are this horrible brain fog that is impairing my basic functions. I forget things easily, I can't concentrate. It feels like I've literally got dumber. I am clumsier. I keep almost walking into poles and today I almost got run over by a bus. I'm beyond irritable. I almost attacked a man on an elevator because of his breathing, and I've never had such violent thoughts before. I've had brief sucidical thoughts that I had to talk myself out of because I rationally know I don't want to do that.

When I stretch my neck it hurts. It feels like my neck or back is violently ripping in two. I'm having out of body experinces. I am sitting at work and suddenly I am not sure if I am dreaming or not

I also have headaches, I'm pacing constantly. I am having muscle spasims, twitching, my hands tremble.

This is terrifying. I've never felt like this in my entire life and I don't know what is going on. Is it the Buspar? The Atavan? The lack of Klonopin and should I go to the hosptial? My doctor isn't around on the weekends. Any help will be appericated.

You are the mistress of your domain. I would tell myself before I would see a doctor. Having needing them all my life. And feeling that they did not understand me or worse didn't matter. When I turned 18 I took control of my medical life if a medicine did not work or made me feel worse I tell my doctor so and I discuss alternatives. If he would not budge than I would look for another doctor. This anxious for me at first. But after I did find a doctor who met my needs I was convienced that this was right for me. You know your moods and needs, so make that clear to your doctor. This is good for your mental health.

Have had to deal with being depressed since I was young. Have had to deal with it on my own also. Parents did not believe in helping with therapy, Meds. Has been hard to get thru it at times on my own. Ended up in the psych ward a few times, tried to kill myself. On Meds and in therapy again now. When will it ever end? Just want to feel normal for once. I am so tired of therapy and have been trying to get my therapist so mad at me that will will tell me that she can no longer see me. Pushing my family away, pushing everyone as far away from me as possible. Work is becoming so hard to get up to go to. I feel so lost right now and I don't know what to do. Any suggestions?

Let me know how you come out also. My meds don't se to help, been on many different ones, in psych ward due to not being able to stop crying due to life situations. I would rather be dead than feel like I do

@thinktherapy - So glad to hear that eating well has greatly improved your mental health. Our physical and mental well-being are so intrinsically intertwined. Similar benefits can be seen for exercise, as many members have stated on this discussion thread:

- Depression and anxiety: Exercise eases symptoms http://mayocl.in/2dcJB7p

But one can't forget that mental health is anything but simple. While diet and exercise can help reduce symptoms, some people benefit from additional therapy and treatments, as the discussions here on Connect demonstrate. Thank goodness we have a community of people willing to share and support one another because, honestly, reducing the stigma that often comes with mental health is really important.

changing meds can make things feel different and are different . hang in there or talk to your dr, asap . I hate when you get a new dr. and they change up your meds. being on this to talk to people is a great thing. I just signed up and it makes me feel that I am not crazy or alone

Thank you for trusting this group as much by expressing your frustration on how you feel. Have you gotten your own therapist and psychiatrist that monitors your medication. There are so many reasons why your meds are not working. IT could be physical change in your body, body resistance to medication or mood change do to environment, family, work or anything that goes on in your life. It is really important to talk to a therapist regularly about your moods and medication because of how your everyday life experiences can effect your mood. So do not take anything for granted and do not think for one minute that this depression is your problem alone. Be proactive and keep in touch

I also am starting to feel a bit of depression and anxiety. It always happens to me this time of year, right around my birthday. I know part of the reason I start to get sick again is that the sun is lower in the sky. I'm not outside as much as I used to be therefore my vitamin D is probably getting low. My coping skills will need in to play here. I try and get outside everyday, on rainy days I use my light box. Also, I need to clean up my diet I've been eating way to many sweets!
Anyway good luck out there to anyone that is struggling. There are so many proactive things you can do to make yourself feel better, and if you need professional help please don't hesitate to get it.
Take care everyone!

Klonopin does help with anxiety but I ended up in the hospital to get off it. I like you have depression and severe anxiety and don't know what to do. I do not want benzos as I feel the same thing could happen. Shame on your Dr for the way you were taken off klonopin. That is both dangerous and completely agonizing .
..I went through that also with a Dr. Let me know how you are please.
