Chronic pain and medical marijuana

Posted by ladyjane85 @ladyjane85, Jul 16, 2016

A nurse friend tried me on marijuana oil smoked in an electronic pen since nothing works with my pain under everything pain management has tried. I did not respond - can one be immune to it as I am with all procedures on my back and all pain relievers

I just tried the oil (smoked) THC from marijuana 3 diff x's, and more than<br>a male would use - no reaction at all.<br>Am being told of sublingual CBD for pain - do not know price. Then told of<br>testing for diff meds since either I react badly of they do not help at<br>all. This is called pharmacogenetic testing or PBx or monecular profiling -<br>will have to talk to my pain management dr. ladyjane85<br><br>

If the choices are between pain or losing a fell brain cell I will take the marijuana and lose a few cells which by the way we lose functions and cognitive functions as we get older. I do not think it is rapid enough to be a problem but pain untreated can give you immediate cognitive loss and physical discomfort immediately and with dreadful consequences

Hi @ladyjane85. I am not an expert. But I do know much like any other medication, no one person reacts the same. Some drugs or medications are more effective for some verses others. Here's a link that may give you further insight. Hope it helps alittle.

I second the geneyic testing. I used a test by Assurex. They will cover it on a sliding scale if your insurance won't. Maximum out-of-pocket expense is $300. Medicare covers it. I got all kinds of info on how my body responds to pain meds, seizure dugs, anti- anxiety meds, adhd drugs, bipolar meds, antidepressants, etc. It also details any imperfections in your liver enzyme profile. All you need is a cheek swab and a doctor or psychiatrist to go over results with you. It was extremely helpful.

what have u "tried"??<br /><br />*stay off opiates unless at low level. Some opiate combinations are used.<br />Try high doses of *<br />*acetominophen.(Tylenol).*<br /><br />Ask you doctor also about low doses of * ketamine, with or without<br />"tylenol.*<br />

That is correct. 4000 mg acetaminophen is the maximum intake per day. Even going over this amount just once can cause damage or create the need for a transplant. Many of my meds contain tylenol, so my doc suggested not using extra strength tylenol, or only taking 1 at a time. Keep track of daily acetaminophen intake if you take opiods, fioricet, and multi-symptom cold/cough medicines. It adds up fast!

You might want to try the oils/tinctures ..apparently, good success with pain management and bodily discomfort. Administered under the tongue and measured by increasing small amounts of tincture. Usually by drops.<br><br>

Mix any essential oils with a pure base oil, like coconut, before ingesting even one drop. Some oils can be very irritating to your mouth or system. Peppermint oil is helpful for pain as well as gastrointestinal issues. I get migraines from odors, however. So I use a roll-on applicator on the bottom of my feet. It is absorbed extremely efficiently, while keeping the strongest smells as far away from my nose and brain as possible. Good luck!

I also know that age can effect medication. Recently I had similar problems with some medication that was too strong for me, and I had to reduce the dose until I found the right strength to work without disagreeing with me. The genetic pharaclogy idea sounds good but I don't know how much it costs. I'd also like to try stem cells especially for my knee which is now bone on bone, to see if cartilage would regenerate. The same might work on my back. I did sign up will 23andme, a genetic testing group for research and family history. I got some information from them on drugs and medicines that could work for me. This was years ago but the data is still good. They had an issue with the FDA and had to stop giving out medical information until the last couple years when the FDA approved some of their results. 23andme now charges $199 for a test, but I do not know what kind of medical information you can get from them now. 19lin

Look up Assurex. Depending on your income, they will pay 100% of your cost; maximum amount you will pay is $300. The test is $5500, but no one pays that. It is covered by Medicare.

please try sublingual CBD it is from the plant, no smoking, no TCH so you don't get high. It helped a great deal with my chronic pain of nerve damage from a hernia operation.

Try CW Botanicals, out of Colorado. It is called Charlotte's Web. It is not cheap. They also will not guarantee that you will pass a drug test. But the purity and reputation of the formula is excellent.

For certain health conditions, non-THC marijuana is available by prescription from a specially-licensed doctor in the state of Minnesota. Very few doctors have obrained the license, and you must purchase from dispensaries scattered around the state.
