No one can explain why

My mother had a spontaneous epidural hemorrhage at the base of her brain/top of spinal column last September which has caused her head to be bent forward at an almost 45 degree angle. We are told that it is due to the fluid outside the spinal column causing pressure. No one has been able to figure out why it is taking so long for the fluid to reabsorb and relieve the pressure.

Welcome @watchingmom. Did your mother have a head injury that caused the hemorrhage? Has your mother's medical team offered any other treatment options or do they anticipate that the fluid with eventually reabsorb?

No, there was no injury. She has had 3 rounds of PT and they seem to think the fluid will reabsorb but are at a loss as to why it has been 9 months and still not much progress. They have referred her to other doctors and she has another appointment in July. Was just wondering if anyone else had ideas as to why this would be taking so long. Thanks

I am a post surgery patient at Mayo. If it is possible for you to do it I would take her to Mayo. They are excellent. I had a brain tumor removed from my brainstem and I am doing great! I pray your Mom will get her healing.

Deb, may I ask what type of brain tumor you had? How long ago were you at Mayo?
