Has anyone done a telephone consultation with a doctor? Is it possible?

Hi @lorna813. Welcome to Connect! We are glad to have you. This is a great question. In the age of telemedicine, phone and video consults are becoming more and more common. They are certainly possible, and many doctors provide them. Are you considering this option? What kind of consult are you looking for?

Some types of consult are better suited for phone than others, and doctors typically prefer to have seen you in person at least once before offering that option. I'm tagging @rick537, @burrkay and @concernedmtnmom and who have posted about phone consults in the past and may be able to provide some additional insights. Hope this helps!

How can I get an online or phone consultation with a doctor in Mayo clinic? is there a specific phone number for it?

Hi @mgb, Mayo Clinic medical teams work as a group. It is more likely that your husband's records will be reviewed by a team of experts. You can read more in the answers to frequently asked questions here: https://www.mayoclinic.org/appointments/faq
It states:

Q: Can I request a particular provider?
A: You may wonder if it's possible to see a specialist you have read about. Or someone who has been recommended by a friend or colleague. Mayo Clinic can't honor all requests, but we try to when possible. However, we won't grant requests for care team members based on race, religion, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity, language, disability status, age or any other personal attribute. We strive to create an environment where everyone in our diverse community feels safe and welcome and is treated with respect and dignity. Appointment specialists are specially trained to match you with the provider or group that's the best fit for your diagnosis and your history.

Hi Ms. Young, I am following up your previous reply that included a link to request a second opinion records review: http://mayocl.in/1mtmR63
Unfortunately that link no longer shows that option and redirects to the general appointments page. I have also searched the website unsuccessfully and was hoping you could please direct me again to where I can request a second opinion records review. We greatly appreciate that The Mayo Clinic offers this option to help alleviate the stress and burden on patients needing to travel in, if there is no other treatment that can be offered other than the current treatment plan a patient is receiving. Thank you for your continued help!

Hi @mgb, that is the correct link. All appointment requests, including second opinions, to through the general intake appointments office.
