I fell and damaged my ribs. Fortunately for me I have very good bones. I suffer from RA, Afib, and chronic pain. When my dog knocked me down last week,. Now this is a story for another time. I went to ER by ambulance. I am 76. They sent me home after x Ray's. No breaks. But lots of pain. They refused me and pain med. My blood Pressure is usually very very normal 128 over 76. It climbed to 150 in ER and today I am 180 over 80. There is no exceptions on pain meds for seniors. What to do. Now my primary gave me Tylonol with codeine. Enough for 3 days..

I am so sorry about your rib pain. I am also sorry that our society has come to the point where people that are honestly hurt and in pain cannot get the pain medication they need. Please give us updates as to how you are doing.

@teress221 I had two kidney surgeries. A couple of years later I developed chronic pain in my low back, sacrum, buttocks, hips and thighs. I've had two surgeries on my hip thinking that was the source of this new pain. After three years of therapy, injections, and testing, insurance change, having to change my therapist, etc. A fresh set of eyes and new perspective has come to light. The theory is that the kidney surgeries caused scar tissue and nerve entrapment, the source of my pain. I wonder if the chest tube caused the same perfect storm inside of you. The recommended treatment has been myofascial release. This is done with manipulative therapy. I had been getting a weekly (and extremely painful) deep tissue massage, but that's not what myofascial release entails. It's a very light touch. The first time I thought it was voodoo and what kind of quack is this. Laughingly I asked what I could expect over the next few days. She said I wasn't going to like her very well. Actually I HATED her over the next few days. I couldn't walk more than 90 seconds at a time. Then I got back to my baseline. While my husband was away from home for a vacation, I had my girlfriends over for a board game night. I spent the day cleaning my house and cooking and setting up card tables. By that night, I was having another flare in my pain. Back to 90 second walks again. I've seen this therapist a total of four times now. I can't believe how much improvement I've made since my first time!! One day last week and one day this week, I woke up with ZERO pain. Usually I toss and turn trying to get comfortable and when I can't take it any more I get up for the day. The first time I woke up with no pain, I literally thought I was dreaming. I was looking at my alarm clock thinking this is such a wonderful dream and I don't want to wake up, wishing myself back to sleep. Then my alarm went off and I realized I was awake! Of course my pain started up again once I was up and moving but what ecstasy to have those few moments after years of constant pain. I am a believer in this massage therapist! Problem is her availability. I only get in once every other week or so. There is an intensive program in Sedona AZ that I'm looking into. You get 3 hours daily of this therapy and it's 2-3 weeks long. I am so anxious for this pain to end and I am seeing a light at the end of the tunnel. I'm ready to sprint to the finish line! I am trying to figure out how I can make it work with my finances, insurance, and time off from work. If you haven't tried myofascial release therapy, find a John Barnes trained therapist and give it a few sessions. They should be able to tell you at the first session if they feel scarring and can help you. I mention John Barnes therapists because many massage therapists believe they're trained in myofascial release but it's not the same thing. I've received both. There's a difference. If you're close to Sedona, I've heard that you can book appointments for a single session instead of the intensive program.

I have CRPS. I was originally told by my surgeon that it was a problem with the nerves. When my doctor first touched my foot, I about jumped off the table.

I was diagnosed about 2 years ago now. After a broken ankle. The pain is unexplainable to any one else. I got a nerve blocker in my leg, it worked. But the disorder likes to move on to another part of the body. It went to my hand and arm , my hand was blue and purple, they call it mermaid skin, then it went atrophied. I tried gabapentin, then nerve blockers. They didn't work so I have a spinal implant now. It helped my arm amazingly and luckily they put in 2 leads, cause it jumped to my other arm. It's really hard, weather changes, stress all change how I feel each day. But medical marijuana has helped immensely. If its available go to a pharmacy and talk to them, there really knowledgeable. Talk to me any time. Ask any thing you want, or I'll just listen. Renee

rsnowflake. Look into a pain pump. It's what I have and it doesn't matter where your pain locates itself, it gets it all for me. A tiny dose of narcotics goes directly to your spine bypassing your digestive tract. No side affects to deal with, nobody will think your a "drug seeker", as you have no access to the drugs in your pump. 2 to 3 mgs. per day of dilaudid is all it takes. it is 300 times more effective than oral meds. Won't make you tired or sleepy and it certainly won't get you high.

Question: do you use pot products that contain THC or are they denatured and how do you take it? I hear alot about this I'm not sure what the people who are getting relief are using. It gets it biggest rave reviews from folks in CA and CO. Thanks for helping me with this.

I'm right there with you. I live in Alabama, so I think I'm out of luck.

Sometimes I use the vape pen with thc and cbd. It calms me down and definitely makes me just enough in a little high to forget about fairly constant pain. I also use capsules with thc and cbd because I have chronic respiratory problems and the Cbd helps with anti- inflammation. Its been very helpful. Good luck. If you want 2 talk or just need someone to hear other experiences. Renee

I tried one little pull off one of those vape pens and it scared me half to death and I was not a newcomer to THC. Child of the sixties. They put me in jail where I live for that. Glad it's helping
