Hi! I have good days and not-so-good days, or sometimes hours that I am able to function and hours I cannot. I am dealing with pain from spinal stenosis, scoliosis, kephosis, herniated bulging and retropulsed discs. I have had five spontaneous spinal fractures with no known cause; I do not have osteoporosis. Frequent shingles, UTIs and bronchitis. I also have Lyme and co-infections which were undiagnosed for 3 1/2 years which destroyed my digestive system and caused respiratory problems, muscle cramping and neuropathy (the muscle cramping and neuropathy have resolved with meds for Lyme.) I try to do my best, fix my hair and wear a little makeup when I'm up to it. As a result, many people say "But you look great!" Yeah, just don't come look at my house. What do you answer to that?

Hi All!!
I don't know if you remember a message I posted the other day.
After a week, my pain from my lumbar surgery was getting worse instead of better.
I was given opioids to manage the pain.
However, my hubby and I were afraid for me to write take the prescribed dosage of 1 tablet every 4 hours because of all the news about addiction.
Anyway, after so many responses from members, I decided to follow the directions but my hubby still did not feel good about it.
I finally called the doctor.
I was told exactly what I told here, I need to stay ahead of the pain.
That means I take my pain meds, 1 every 4 hours (4 a day), and walk.
Yesterday, I started the plan and I started feeling improvement immediately.
So, we are both OK with following the instructions.
BTW....I told the doc that it would be helpful if these instructions and possible side effects were told to patient before surgery.

Anyway, just wanted to chceck in with everyone and thank you for all the input you have shared!

@dementmt Hi there welcome to our group we give advice what helps a person, talk let our experience talk for us. So maybe you will benefit from others . I also have back pain from a fracture, bulging disc ,spondylitis and finally found my mattress wasn't giving me the support I wanted it was sagging so ordered a new bed . I had Easy Rest Adjustable Bed come and give me a demo. It was like day and night . After my legs and head was raised immediately my back pain left I think the science behind it is stretching the vertebrae remember back in the day the Dr. put you on a stretching machine I think this is the same science behind the adjustable bed. I ordered the bed it will be here sometime 1st of Oct. cant wait last night I was wishing I had the bed all ready. ,what a difference this made it also has massage in it . Once I get it I,ll probably not want to get up LOL My neurologist told me to get back into aqua exercise and I know from my own experience exercise is the key to releasing the muscles and nerves to relax. So good luck I know how your suffering I am too.
