@oregongirl Believe me, I know about not talking any more with the family about what is happening. I need treatment, but my wife and children are fighting it every step of the way, and my Primary is worse. They all say, Look. You are 80. You are going to die soon anyway, so why treat it. I have about 8 doctors I see more or less regularly, and only one of them makes any effort. I went for 75 years not knowing what the problem is, and I guess they are all tired of hearing about it.

WOW! I am at a loss for words!
I am so sorry that you are not getting the support you need.
You must have an exceptional family since they read into the future to know you will die soon.
Hey, no one knows that regardless of their age when their time is up.
There are people who live into their 100s. Who knows?

Why not live your life to the fullest for as long as you have?
Why not seek medical help on your own?
You obviously have a computer so do some research.
NO ONE SHOULD LIVE IN PAIN IF THERE MIGHT BE A SOLUTION!!!!!!!

Good luck!
Ronnie

I have the best Spine doctor. I had the shots which I thought were a waste. He said according to the paper work, the sots worked on my back but not my neck. I don't get it. Dont I know what worked and what didn't. I would not let them go any further. So, he showed me how to sit and how to get up and down. In other words, take your pain pills and relax. Oh ya while my house fall apart. I cannot change my sheets myself, so I take them off and have someone else help me put them back on. Yes things have changed haven't they?

Oregongirl since your now in an Independent building as I am there is a program for you to get housekeeping done its subsidized by gov. The Social worker can help you with that or ask the building manager if you don't have social worker in your place. I pay my housekeeper twice a month .

You can find them at Walgreens, CVS, Walmart, some of the local farm supply companies have them it the hunting section. Some stores have them under their seasonal section for winter

My husband used them during the winter when he worked outside.

But make sure you talk with your healthcare provider because you don’t want to use heat or ice on neuropathy type pain. With neuropathy you have the sense of feeling So you may not be able to tell the difference if it’s getting too hot or too cold. Make sure your doctor advises you.

I think you are right about pain becoming part of our identity!
You say you want to live your life so you are moving into an independent facility.
You also say it is your choice.
Is it really?
You sound as if you are doing it to give your children the time they need on their own.
I wonder, does that mean you are REALLY happy to be going or do you feel foreced to move because of your kids?
Food for thought.
Of course you family will love you until you die.
I would hope that is true for all of us (although I know it isn't).
Good luck with your move and I hope you find what you are looking for.
Ronnie

Hi @grandmar! I sure like your attitude- it’s great! I thoroughly enjoy reading your posts! They make me feel better! I have fibro, RA, diabetes, and recently discovered heart failure. Reading about others takes the isolation away. I’m isolated. I live with my brother and he’s not one to talk about feelings or illnesses. So when I feel bad, I keep quiet. I literally have no extended family that cares at all, and I just had to move away from my wonderful friends and church. I can’t drive right now, so I have no way to get to church. I fight hard to not fall down into the abyss. I hope you are ok as well as all my Connect angels. Karen

Have a great evening!

Good Morning,
Monday is the day I am scheduled to have surgery on L3/4.
I am having a procedure called an x-lift.
This is a kind of fusion.
I understand that this will be more involved than the C5/6 surgery I had.
This surgery will require a hospital stay of 1-3 nights and wearing a back brace.
At this point, I will do just about anything to rid myself of the acute pain, or at the very least, reduce it enough for it to be tolerable!
I contracted a cold from my granddaughter that I am fighting.
When I was at the doc for my pre-op, I was told if it didn't clear up, no surgery!
I've been staying inside all week, trying to stay away from others and trying to rest this thing up.
I have until finally feeling a positive change.
Well, please keep me in your prayers.
Thank you!
Here's to a pain free day!

Ronnie (GRANDMAr)

@grandr. Hi Ronnie! Hope your cold dries up! We are dodging a bullet as far as hurricane goes. The worst is moving south. We will still get flooding rains and wind. I pray for the best! Praying for you!
