I have had spine surgery for severe pain.
Periformis muscle pain for 9months and when all that was getting a bit better I was rear ended in a car accident that has left me with severe pain in my right hip and buttocks with nerve damage.
I’ve been dealing with pain for 2 years and it is exhausting and depressing.
Im looking for relief. Physical therapy is not the answer.

Try acupuncture,it’s requires patience as it’s not fast but it does decrease the pain somewhat.Worth a try as it’s not invasive.I suffer nerve pain too from damage during a procedure hard going

Hi, I am new. I am relatively new to my chronic pain. I mean I have had my back issues for years but to me that was just something that was here and there type of pain.
Almost two years ago I went into the ER in the worst pain I have ever experienced(yes, worse than child birth) . I had two kidney stones, my first, I also had two ovarian cysts and was diagnosised with anemia. I know it's no where what others experience but since then I have constant pain. The pain is in my lower stomach but also can start under my ribs all the way down. It's a constant pain but some days I can deal while some it feels as if I am repeatly being kicked or stabbed in my stomach. My anemia has had me worn down. I did try iron pills but caused a bleeding ulcer. I recieved two iron infusions. I just moved about four months ago and so the process is restarting again. But some days I am ok and can do ok. Other days just doing one daily chore wears me down and can't do much.
I have chronic headaches 5/7 days. Sometimes the migraines come as well. I was also just recently diagnosised with hypothyroidism.
My back and hips are also an issue but I need to figure out more important things prior to dealing with that.
I just feel as if my whole body is fading away and not wanting to function. The difficult issue in all of this I do not know my health background, I am adopted. So this brings me to mayo and start my tests this coming week. I just hope to find out some answers.
Thanks for listening.

John,
I actually went a few months back for my first visit. I had to wait to schedule the rest of my appointments until now. I will be there this time for 5 days. But thank you for the links. Any places I should see or stop and eat at in Rochester? I went to a Greek place last time and another restaurant but it was not my favorite.
Thanks!

Hello @ella2000, I would like to add my welcome to John's. If you don't mind me asking, what sort of food do you like? I have lived in Rochester, MN my entire life, so I've tried just about everything, as I am sure John has as well.

Hello @vdgwr, welcome to Connect. Thank you for sharing a bit about yourself and you complications with your back. @eifeltower gave you a good suggestion for acupuncture. Many of our members have talked about how acupuncture has helped them through some of their pain.

You may also want to check out the following discussions as they will have members who will understand what you are going through and talking about some of the things they have done to cope:

Hi Ella (@ella2000), here are a few of my favorites:

If you like pizza, Pasquale's Neighborhood Pizzeria is really good. You can buy it by the slice or a whole pizza.

If you like burgers, Newt's downtown location is really pretty good.

If you like Italian, Victoria's Ristorante & Wine is the place to go. Their lasagna is one of my favorites, the mango salad is when I want to eat healthy ☺ https://victoriasmn.com/

If you are up for a drive, The Hubble House Restaurant has some really good steaks and a little history to go with it. It's located in Mantorville right down the hill from my house ☺. It's about a 30 minute drive west, just 3 miles north of the town of Kasson on Hwy 57.

I'm sure Justin (@JustinMcClanahan) has a lot of good suggestions for eating places also.

John

@jimhd Right there with you Jim. Overload strikes and I hide away for a while until I can slowly sort through the mountains of info/garbage. I hide away with my paint brushes...ah, sweet oblivion even if only for brief moments. I rely on my rice bags. A hot bath would be okay if I did not have to exit into the cold. Too much trouble to get in and out...I be a shower person. OMG this OGM gives TMI...tee-hee.

@dear parus. many, many years ago there were electric heaters in the ceilings of bathrooms so when you emerged from the shower or the bathtub you would be encircled by warmth. of course set to the temperature you select. somewhere in time we got lost. i wonder what happened to this feature. perhaps it was not popular enough to keep on going. any safety factors could be addressed properly. why are we now losing the luxuries of the bathrooms that are so appreciated now in our sufferings and our old age? i would say advanced age but let us face it, it is what is is. a little luxury goes a long way for people like us pass me a dry towel please and thank you.
