I promised you all I would let you know when I got approved for Medical Marijuana. Judi and I did it. We then went down to Edgewater FL. and got two 500 mg bottles. $70 each. So we were suppose to start with 5 drops (each drop is a mg.) three times a day and slowly work up to 10 drops 3 times a day. Do the math. 16 days for $70. We are both at 5 drops 3 times a day and no relief. I sure hope it starts to ease our pain. Will Keep you posted.

Contentandwell, the prices of xifaxan are INSANE! Who can afford it, with or without insurance? Yikes!

Peach, couldn't agree with you more. We really have to be our own advocates, which is difficult to do when one's struggling with PAIN. But I am truly sick of medical "professionals" not giving us choices or not telling us about choices. I flee from those folks.

Yep, I think we're the beta testers for everything. I'm definitely not into the idea of testing on animals. But I'm not crazy about what the druglords are doing to us people, either.

Boy, you're damned if you do, and damned if you don't. I am so sick of medical professionals. But they know we need them. I haven't even really discussed MM with my primary care; all she said is that there're a bunch of hoops to be jumped through. A friend of mine who's using MM told me that she'd be glad to purchase some for me so that I could see if it helped. I may well do that. If it helps, then I want it. And why in the world are there three MM dispensaries here in Tallahassee if no one wants us to use them???

@cassie123 Cassie, I read a couple of years ago that the latest thinking is not to wait until you are desperate but if it's eventually going to need to be replaced do it asap. That way when you have the surgery you are in better shape for recovery. I had one knee replaced when the thinking was to wait, and I waited until I was in pain 24/7. I am having the other replaced in October and this time I have strengthened my legs and can get around pretty well, very Indiscernible limp, but on stairs or on uneven terrain I have a lot of trouble.

@hazelblumberg, Hazel, you are right, the cost of xifaxan is insane but if it saves you from the HE episodes associated with cirrhosis, and you can manage it then it's worth it. My immediate thought was that I could manage without it but my husband said we should go ahead and get it, what are we saving the money for if not to help ourselves at times like this? It made a huge difference, completely ending the episodes for almost a year but then as my cirrhosis progressed I did have some more episodes so I had to add lactulose back in. YUCK, lactulose is the worst.

@hazeblumberg. Having your friend get you some to try is a great idea. Try to get the tincture for pain without THC or with low THC. If you get stoned you might lose balance which is not good as we are older. Good luck.
