I have keloid scaring and that makes joint replacement questionable. With my kind of scarring the scars build up in in big red lumpy , itchy areas. Does anyone here have that kind of scarring if so have you had a joint replacement?

Hi-my journey with chronic pain began in a car accident almost 20 years ago that has had an ongoing impact in my life. I am athletic (I play tennis). I row. I workout regularly but have chronic neck and lower back issues as well as ankle issues. Because of the cost I am always looking for ways to manage my pain from the inside out...Without opiates and all the medications...I have the chiropractor thing down my exercises have help for sure but what else is there out there for Home therapy?

Thx you to @sharonmay7. With spinal issues, arthritis and Fibromyalgia, I rely on Advil and Norco as needed for unrelenting
Pain as needed, and topical arthris creams with my Ortho and PC full support. I hope I am misunderstanding that opioids are trying to be banned. I do hear of stories of addiction and the huge use of oxycodone and oxy cotton. BTW, are these last two the same drug? I am approaching my pain with as much life corrective life style as I can.

So glad to see someone else who wants to stay away from meds. I keep busy. Exercise thru pain. Not ready to give in yet. That day will come because scoliosis will only worsen. But for now I'll live life the best I can!

Hi I am a fairly new member. My name is Janie56. I have fibro and myo. Also osteoarthritis. Some days can be pretty bad with pain. I've been on pain meds for a few years. I don't like being on them. I try very much not to take them unless I positively need them. I started doing self hypnosis. It relaxes the nerves and the muscles. It is safe for people to do. You may get different reactions while doing it, but it only lasts for a few minutes then it's gone. (Shaking). Numbness. It has helped my pain. It has cut me way down on the amount of painkillers I have taken. If you can't sleep. It will help you with that also. I'm not saying anyone should try it although I was told by a professional that it is safe for anyone to do. But it is another option to look into.

Hi Janie56. I'm Gail, and i have been having constant pain for one year now. Some times worse than other times. I wanted to let you know that "self hypnosis" and "meditation" are basically the same processes. And, they can both help with pain. I have experienced both.

@gailb Hi. Thank you for your reply. My pain moves. One day my legs are sore. The next could be my back. Went shopping, two stores was too much. Suffered for two days later. I also have two narrowings in both legs, Copd , stents in my heart, osteoarthritis and a tumor on my adrenal gland. Non cancerous. I'm 60 years old. Been on endocet, oxcodone and a pain cream called Lipoderm Diciofenac. Trying to reduce these meds or maybe get off them by trying other methods. Thought I would privately introduce myself to each person if I can. I am not sure if I did this properly. Thank you again Jane
