I live in HOBOKEN and are on a SENIOR CITIZEN stats, with PERIPHERAL NEUROPATHY torment. Just got over a MASSIVE ATTACK of PAIN. Took two ADVILS prescription GABABENTIN 300 mgs. and hopped around for several hours in PAIN....took my INSULIN after a BOWL OF OATMEAT WITH A LOT OF CINNAMON IN IT AND IT FINALLY CALMED DOWN TO A LOW ROAR. I need to walk for about twenty minutes to spread the inflammation evenly, then it doesn't hurt so much..AM 76.....Margaret O

that is OATMEAL not OATMEAT...I am silly now and feel somewhat elated that I am still alive after all of this pain. Had a 9 pound baby years ago and it didn't hurt this much....M.

The cost of medical marijuana is very high. I used to take CBD oil three times a day and THC oil at night, but it got way too expensive for me. Now I only take THC at night to help me to sleep.

I concur. Sad to say but, the only way I can afford it is because my Dad gives me an advance on my inheritance for medical expenses. Not the way I would have EVER imagined it.

Real sorry you went through that last night. I hope today is better for you. I have been there and no fun.

At least with your 9 lb baby, there was a light at the end of the tunnel!! 😊

I have spent the last year trying all cbd combinations and many other salves and pain relievers - some would work for few days, but that was it. I read about the Cold Laser and immediately ordered one from Amazon for $129. I have been using it for one week and have been able to sleep all night for the past 6 days. Hopefully this will continue.
Most of the pain is gone, but the numbness still exists.

@mstrasse1 Interesting clinical trial of a specific cold laser for treatment with diabetic neuropathy. https://clinicaltrials.gov/ct2/show/NCT04006392

@margaretob I find the best first thing to do while standing is to force my heel down until it's flat on the floor (it hurts like crazy!), then massage the leg with any kind of lotion or cream that is handy. Works for me, and I hope it will work for you. I find Gabapentin useless for pain relief. All it does is make me sleepy and causes brain fog.

That light is now 37 with a wife and a child. DIABETIC on meds not INSULIN yet. He doesn't listen to stick to the proper diet.
I worry. Oldest also on meds, is 52...middle 43 no diabetes. It is INHERITED here so we had a warning before it got here. I got the worst of it but am sticking with the PROGRAM of diet, walking, and meds and insulin. SINCE MAY 1995...am 67.....M.

Thank you as always for your experience and knowledge Chris. After 3 months of experimenting , I've found the closest thing to a sweet spot. There are many variables... such as best on empty stomach, line stomach with fat (I take big spoon of peanut butter or eat a handful of almonds) to avoid nausea, timing around other meds and on and on. And as you say, possible future tweaking. Aren't you just so proud of me for learning?!?! 😊

Halleluja! Yes, I am very proud of you for many reasons. First, You are able to sift through my dialogue and modify it to your own need to know at the time.
2. Like most of us, you arrived at Connect looking for "the" cure. You have accepted the fact that there is no cure for SFPN at this time, just many choices for quality of life improvements by managing pain.
3. You have learned to live through the frustration of things not quite living up to your expectations. You accept that chasing and expecting totally pain-free outcomes is not possible right now.
4. You are able to get to the bottom of your challenges....e.g. the pain can become more troublesome to handle when the rest of the family jumps up and runs out to experience the day while you stay at home and try to get that sweet spot.
5. Even when your first post of the day conveys that you are struggling a bit, your greetings and digital chats with all of our Connect community members are positive and help reduce anxiety with gentle words of compassion and/or humor.

Keep it up........I don't have flowers but I always have art. Chris
