Hi @jerrynord and @debbraw, I fixed the link in Lawrence's post. Here it is again:
Mayo Clinic Concierge Services https://www.mayoclinic.org/patient-visitor-guide/minnesota/concierge-services

While @lmindela and his fellow concierge assistants are physically located at the Minnesota campus, they provide services for Mayo Clinic's Florida and Arizona campuses, too.

I got it but it is only for Minnesota. I need info for Jacksonville, Florida.

Hi @colleenyoung - thanks for fixing the link, but @jerrynord is right - it only includes MN hotels. It would be great to have a page like that that displays Jacksonville hotels.

@debbraw and @jerrynord, your wish is my command. Here is the Florida page:
Visitor's Guide: Mayo Clinic Florida https://www.mayoclinic.org/patient-visitor-guide/florida

See info for all campuses here: https://www.mayoclinic.org/patient-visitor-guide

As @lmindela also offered, send an email address to concierge@mayo.edu. He will email a list of hotels in Jacksonville.

Wow. I'm impressed. That was FAST. It's a lot of good information, but I think I will follow up on @lmindela Laurence's kind offer of a list. The website is a little lean on Jacksonville hotels. It lists the Marriott right there on campus and refers you to a Jacksonville website for other offerings. Thanks to you and Laurence for fast response and good information.

Hello all! I am going down to Mayo Jacksonville tomorrow morning for an appointment with an Ehlers Danlos specialist. I have many records on paper, which I plan to bring, but I'm worried I'll be missing something. Do Mayo doctors appreciate the beloved medical binder? I tend to bring everything in one binder, but my local doctors find it annoying. It's been a long road to be able to see someone at Mayo, and I guess I'm looking for confirmation that the doctors there care and won't blame the illness on me. Also, any first timer tips are appreciated! I just have the one appointment at 7am. Thank you all!

Hi @jthigpen, Welcome to Mayo Clinic Connect. You'll notice that I moved your message to this discussion where members are already talking about going to Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville. Click VIEW & REPLY to scroll through past posts.

I say, YES, bring the binder. Patients who do come prepared to be a partner in their care are welcome at Mayo Clinic. Wouldn't you agree, @amandaburnett @fourof5zs @lisafl @debbraw? What tips would you offer?

Let me connect you with other EDS members and discussions that I think you'll find helpful. Ready? It's going to be a lot of links and info.

You said that you just have the one appointment at 7 am. Did they mention that depending on the results of that consult whether you might have additional tests or appointments? Did you get information about how long to expect your day to be tomorrow?

I was only told that I'd have the one appointment and nothing was mentioned about additional testing or appointments. I'm not too sure what to expect

@jthigpen
You should have been sent an itinerary.

If they did not send you one you can get it from the patient portal. I use the Mayo Clinic app. You can get it from your device's app store. I use my ipad and while there I use my Android phone. They ask you to leave your phone on. I actually got a phone call while there last time while I was talking to an NP from another section of the hospital about another test appointment being scheduled.

You can also access the patient portal through their web page: https://onlineservices.mayoclinic.org/content/staticpatient/showpage/patientonline If you do not have an account yet you can create one. I attached a photo to show you what the sign in looks like and show with boxes where to click at to create an account.

You usually check in at the Davis Building. It has been over a year since I have been there. With covid-19 things may be different. Your itinerary should tell you.

I expect you will have your temperature taken and questions will be asked. Make sure you allow time for this as well as your travel time to the clinic. If you feel lost when you enter just stop at the info desk and ask questions.

Hi @jthigpen, So glad you have an appointment at Mayo tomorrow. I've been with Mayo for 15 years and they have saved my life a few times! I agree with @colleenyoung, bringing a binder with your medical history would be beneficial for your care. Having information readily available like your current symptoms, a list of medications that you are currently on, treatments that have been done in the past and family history of the syndrome can expedite your care by eliminating duplicated testing.

Normally, you will have an hour consultation with the internist or specialist and he or she will determine during that time what other testing, if any need to be done, and what type of treatment they can provide based off of the results of those tests. Be aware, that given the availability of some tests, it can be a several day experience and can sometimes be spaced out over a period of time. The schedulers in the department will normally ask you about dates and times for appointments if they are not able to schedule them on the same day. Whether you can only stay tomorrow or if you can plan for a few days, I would let the physician know during the appointment so that he/she can make a note to the desk staff who will be scheduling the appointments.

Also, Mayo does have a mandatory mask policy currently in place. They encourage you to bring your own, but if you don't own one, they will provide you with one during the screening process at the entrance where they will ask you a series of COVID related questions and take your temperature. I hope this helps you prepare a little more for tomorrow.

Are there any specific questions that you have that I might be able to help with?

Thanks for creating that graphic about the Patient Online Services, @fourof5zs. You've had occasion to use it a few times in the past couple of days to help new Mayo patients. So helpful!
