Recently diagnosed with conversion disorder, any positive stories?

Posted by Helen Dennis @helendennis, Jun 24, 2012

Conversion disorder Hmmm.. After trauma, was when mine began.. How odd to know that I am a suffer recently diagnosed. I would love to learn of a positive story from a fellow mayo clinic friend. This has taken a good grip on me and I have felt quite alone for over 3 years.
I am really interested in how to begin the process of recovery and I am due to see a psychologist next month. A head start would be sweet.
Thanks in advance 🙂

My son-in-law had had several spinal disc surgeries and was supposed to be on light duty. He worked at a concrete block plant, and had a supervisor from Hades, who made him lift the wet blocks. One day he went to his sisters at lunch time because he didnt feel well. He pretty much just checked out of his surroundings. He had to learn everything over from tying his shoes to making sentences. He carried a pooh bear and didn't remember much. I took him to see his orthopedic surgeon for an appointment, and he didn't know the surgeron, who couldn't believe it. He had to have someone with him and at times had bad headaches. Slowly, he got better with help from many, including a psychologist. He is o.k. now.
