Buttocks irritation from seating
Seating even in a recliner, or lying in bed face up becomes painful. I get red blotches and also painful follicles. I have seen several dermatologists and none has ever had a patient with this problem. I have been prescribed antibiotic creams, etc. Nothing helps. Has anybody suffer from this? Can a frien help?

Thank you so much for all the updates, @bluecinnamon; I know that other Connect members will appreciate your insights.
I was doing a bit of research about Dermatographia online, and noticed that stress, or emotional upsets could trigger an episode; may I ask if you would share some thoughts on this?
Regarding your question if _stress, or emotional upsets could trigger an episode_ , my answer would be that these 'inputs' would make the need for cooling agents even greater, but that the dermaticgraphic condition exists all the time, regardless of those inputs.
Wanted to update that I no longer use the small fan on my night table at night to stay cool. Realized it was very drying, too, and also that I didn't need it to sleep comfortably after all. It's also very difficult to find a small, whisper-quiet fan (when you do, they don't last long!). It is a little harder to get to sleep without the fan, adding some minutes, but it's tolerable.
My 2020 update - To help fall asleep I now use Embr Wave [info on their site embrlabs.com]. Looks like a wrist watch, but cools/heats. Headache Hat/Halo is another product I'm using now. I attach two together to wear as either an ice belt or ice 'scarf'' (one works for treating headaches, too). At last derm app't the dermatologist said there still is no cure for symptomatic dermatigraphism. So, if my skin is particularly itchy sometimes I take not just the one Allegra, in the a.m., but also one Zyrtec at night.
Hi @bluecinnamon, I appreciate your posting regular updates since 2012! How long have you been using the Embr watch?
About two years.
