Workplace Violence Hurts ... It Almost Ended My World

Do you know of someone who has been made to feel worthless by a boss, company,or a culture; that promotes and rewards cruelty to human beings?

Do you think it's o.k. to go to work, work hard and be intentionally hurt by workplace bullies who abuse their power?

Just like bullying in classrooms/schools is leading to bullycide's and a host of psychological issues for our youth, adults in the workplace across the world are also suffering.

Workplace, discrimination and retaliation (if you report the sometimes unlawful behaviors):
Robs an individual of their self worth, causes enormous amounts of stress, exacerbates pre-existing health conditions, can limit one's career growth, results in the hard work one does not being recognized and can also include defamation of character, slander, hostile and unhealthy work environments and even SUICIDE!

Sometimes the behavior can be subtle but the abuser knows exactly what he or she is doing. Often the abuser is manipulative and convinces individuals who they perceive as weak to do the dirty work for them so when the behavior is finally reported they are protected.

What I find disheartening is that each state in the US has an attorney general. In my case, instead of protecting me and holding people accountable, the agency is protected despite all it's wrong doings.
No respect or empathy for how a life was impacted at all. Had it been another agency not affiliated, the attorney general would even be all over the news bragging about how important the protection of human life is but those with close ties are not held to the same standards: Equality, human dignity, no tolerance for workplace violence and a zero tolerance for retaliation when one reports unprofessional and unethical practices.
It's a sad sad way to practice but it's my reality.....

I can see where some would quit because we do deserve better but I love my job because of the patients. Through it all, my care was always quality care and unfortunately the healthcare field has a lot of people who really don't belong in it.
I'm not quitting! I will return to my job and things will be very different.
I go to work to improve the quality of the lives that I'm fortunate to have met. Acquaintances, friends etc, are secondary. The patients are my priority but I have to feel safe in order to continue providing quality care. I was not safe at work for a very long time but I still worked hard but in the end my spirit, my dignity and my health were seriously impacted.
I will never work under such oppressive conditions again ....

i feel the same way about my patients too. and they are top priority, Things will change for you my dear Rox and you will return to a safe and healthy environment and just think of all the wonderful smiling faces on the patients that you care for when they see you again. Please, enough with the disrespect. Everyone is entitled to express how they would handle what many of us have endured in the workplace.
We don't have to agree but we do have to appreciate everyone's contributions because they are important.

Thank you. One never knows what the future will bring. I'd like to think that in the near future many opportunities will present themselves. I didn't deserve to be hurt the way in which I was but when I'm right about something that involves my life and livelihood good will triumph over evil and cruelty.

Dear Reader's,
I want to express my gratitude for all your support, feedback and suggestions. Your thoughtfulness has not gone unnoticed. The past year, has been very humbling as well as scary. To think that in this day and age one would be targeted so badly by violence, discrimination and retaliation in the workplace is so sad and disturbing. What is even more disturbing is that cruelty exists at all and even promoted and then protected.
Interestingly, today, I feel strong and I still have faith that in the end justice will prevail.
Don't ask me where the strength is coming from because they really beat me down. Perhaps, it stems from knowing that one day I know I will be what I was meant to be... a licensed clinical social worker empowering and working hard to improve the lives of others.
Cruelty is so demoralizing and dehumanizing but silence is worse!
Please, don't be silent about any behavior that hurts you because the unlawful behavior will never stop...
