In retrospect this Cheers episode doesn't sound too far fetched 🙂 Cheers | "I'm a janitor at a biology lab..." https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_tqdOwOxY3s

@johnbishop Thanks for the laugh. I always loved Cheers, probably more so since I had been in the bar and eaten in the upstairs restaurant - it had a great Sunday brunch.

@bookysue, Aw Shucks, and I had put on my walking shoes for Edie. Not sure about the last comment…wonder who you might be suggesting here???? Giggles!

@gingerw, You and your neighbor would make great friends to have! I have a working real mini- rock waterfall constructed of rocks and geodes brought back from travels…my kind of gals, you two!

@zeiracorp, Not going to ask…but have to wonder … smiles …how you came upon this “Cow Distancing During Covid” video…You are my kind of demented!!! Had to share this with family and friends…Thank you, thank you for the best laugh of the day….month?

Actually there's been a change in my outlook on life. I no longer think that comedy can solve my problems. I still try to see everything humorously, but I think that for me, what gives me hope is following the daily achievements of........science/medicine!

I believe that we could drastically change the lifespan of Americans after editing the genes of pigs so that they're safe to help us by supplying internal organs that can replace America's out-of-control demand for replacement human hearts, kidneys, livers, etc.

It's called xenotransplantation, and it gives me hope when life seems hopeless. 😀 If xenotransplantation ever works, there may be no limit to the benefits it can provide for people. As for the pigs, well, I'm sorry about that, but I don't eat animals. Maybe if xenotransplantation works, one day we won't need to use the internal organs of pigs: maybe some things like stem cells or even artificial human organs can take over, and we can let all pigs go free!

When I am sick I usually retreat and don't want to talk about it, let alone crack jokes. I am too busy processing what's going on and trying to understand it all, coming to terms with it. I sometimes joke because I am embarrassed about the situation and don't want to be a drag. But when things are really bad I stay quiet and prefer not to talk.

If someone cracks jokes at it I often find it disrespectful; it's not their pain, not their situation. This works the other way round, too; I never laughed in high school when fellow students fell off the stairs even though the others were howling with laughter. And until I myself can joke about a personal situation I don't like it when others try to be funny about it. I do understand they might use humour to help themselves cope with what's going on with me but if I am in pain just either stay away if you want to joke, or shut up.

It's afterwards, once the pain is disappearing, that I can joke about it. Depending on the outcome, that is.
