ANXIETY AND DEPRESSION

DOES ANYONE KNOW HOW TO HELP GENERALIZED ANXIETY DISORDER?

Interested in more discussions like this? Go to the Depression & Anxiety Support Group.

I suffer from these two disorders and yes sometimes it is very difficult to know what to do.
I take several meds, as I also am diabetic. I go for counseling when the world seems to be caving in. Basically one has to be proactive and seek the help you need. I turn to my faith in God's help and my doctor is great to help. Find someone (dr.) who understands your need.
God bless...hang in there. Bluejay

i think have a small place to maintain with a focus on healthy food, so a bachelor, if you're single with an open kitchen. this way the kitchen must be kept clean and you can't own too much. decorate very simply but with taste so you always come home to neat, tidy, enchancing. shop every day for fresh fruit and veg, eat broccoli most days as it has acytelcholine a lot of it that helps clear thoughts. since your place won't be too big, you'll go outdoors a lot so live in a place near the water that's safe so you can walk/bike/boat anytime. plenty of fresh air gives you more oxygen to clarify your thoughts. sunshine will cheer you up and you can get a dose of free 'positive'. good luck

anxiety is tough - I think for me anyways that depression is easier to manage - I still can't figure a medication that helps anxiety without it being addicting like xanax etc- keep talking to people - that always helps in many ways - if you have a particular faith, praying really helps - good luck to you Delia - I will pray for you

yes, David, i do find that prayer really helps. if we are aware that we are never alone that God is always sharing every moment, fear is greatly reduced. anxiety is caused from a sense of fear and an inability to keep that fear from overtaking one's general thoughts and interfering with regular life and daily interactions. talking to God in and of itself is calming and reassuring. praying, as in saying certain ritualistic prayers is soothing because of the lack of thought required and the mere mental/verbal reciting of them is like a mantra or an 'ohm'.

Hi Delia and David I have found that my faith and prayers have helped me to remain strong and give me the continual inner strength that I have needed and still do for many years. I have always said that this has been my saviour and I know that it always will be. I wish that more people relied on their faith and beleif in God. I have had and still do have many conversations and always feel calm afterwards. It also helps with keeping a strong positive attitude and approach to the challenges that we are all faced with in life. Take care always here anytime Annie

glad you are keeping well and staying strong in the arms of god. if the strongest person is holding us up, then there is no need for worry. actions and words may be required for particular situations but if we talk to god, we know exactly what they are. even if they risk greater pain, we know the right thing to do when we ask god his opinion because he's also the smartest and most moral person. moreover, he loves us and only wishes the best for us. to live this life with meaning is his goal for us. some people take 10 yrs to drum up courage to act with their heart and mind conjoined, in the wisdom of god. others who are in the moment, live each moment and their pain in the moment may be great but their freedom from enslavement and fear is well worth the effort.. happy and holy holidays
