You inquired about what I found at Mayo on Aug 9. Well, they take an evaluation of your condition and then all the data gets presented to a board of specialists that meets every 30 days and they decide on the best way to "repair" you if possible. I met on Aug 9 and they had just had their monthly gathering as to surgical reccommdations so I wont know anything until around the first week of September I suppose. Im just hoping for as minimally invasive approach as possible....especially if they need to access the front of my spine. I dont think I cn survice another full anterior/posterior approach. The first surgery in 2008 almost did me in. I dont think I could recover from another like it.

Oh, and the initial surgery did nothing but make the pain worse...but it was a failed fusion so that was to almost be expected.

I'm so sorry your missed this meeting in Aug and now you have to wait. Please let me know how you come out in September. Hang in there and keep the faith!

I had a laminectomy about 10 yrs ago and recovered very well. As soon as I woke from surgery, the pain that had gone down my buttocks and into my legs was gone!!. My back has been weak since and now has some aching, but I think that I did not do enough rehab to strengthen it. Now I just attribute it to age - 80.

How many fusions did you have ? Had several with long rods . Pain is so bad. Know one wants to see me. Feel like know one wants to deal with another Dr. mistake. Also diagnosed with possible spinal stenosis yesterday. Trying to get in to Mayo but was turned down once already. Any suggestions ?

Thanks for replying. I had 4or 5 thoracic fusions. They say they all failed. One Dr. wanted to take rods. NO WAY! Other said nothing can be done and not to take the rods out.
