Alternative Treatments for MAC: immunotherapy, etc.

Posted by jspremich @jspremich, Apr 5, 2018

I was diagnosed with MAC a little over 2 years ago. Have not yet starting taking antibodies. Although I suspect this will happen in the very near future. Has anyone explored alternative treatment, i.e. immune therapy?

JSPremich, what have you found out about immunotherapy for MAC?

I am not sure if there is any immune therapy out there. I am still waiting to see what the inhaled Nitric Oxide studies will reveal.

I am also praying for the NO break thru. Got off the big three because it was affecting my liver and probably other organs as well. Taking powdered NO twice daily, and several other alt supplements to boost my immune system as high as possible. Also, avocado, red onions and garlic every day. Dr reported my last ct scan as improved. I have no cough or other symptoms. Also taking prebiotic and probiotics daily, as well as Super Bio-curcurmin, Immune Senescence, and other supplements to fight Mac. May God Bless and spread His Tender Mercy to all on our forum.

Charlie, Thanks for that information. I am beginning to feel the need to start taking things to boost my immune system. My MAC has been stabilized since last July (thank you, God!) but I am far from healthy by any means. You mention "other supplements to fight MAC." Might I ask what those are please? Linda

Nothing yet. It's why I put out the feeler, hoping others may know of a possible immune therapy. I've asked my infectious disease md, but no response yet. Will let you know when I know. jerry s

@charlie999 Thank you for all of that info, Charlie. It is funny that all of us are thinking about ways to boost our immune systems at the same time. I guess that is all that is left to think about as we have hashed and rehashed everything else concerning this disease. I have been using raw honey for months to sweeten my coffee & tea. It is suppose to have good health benefits and is an antibacterial. I have been doing pretty well. Not sure if the honey helps, but it sure tastes good. I am glad to hear that you are doing well also. Better ct scan and no cough...Yay!!!

I had one pulmonologist tell me the only way to boost your immunity is to make sure your Vitamin D levels are adequate
