Causes of High Testosterone in Men

Posted by wdd18054 @wdd18054, Nov 18, 2017

Does anyone have good resources for information on high testosterone in men? Any information on testosterone producing tumors in men, etc.? (Please note the patient is not taking any medications and/or drugs that would be causing the increase.)

While I do not know anything specifically or experiential, but google testosterone supplements and prostate and see what hits. I know there is some correlation because of the testing I had to go through to get Androgel and then it didn't really help my energy level and I decided the risk was not worth the benefit. I suspect you could find a lot of 50+ men who think with the lower half of their body that would like to have your issue. Since it is a hormone and the production is driven by some other organ, I think that would be my first concern, because there are not many hormone centers that only stimulate one substance.

Thank you for your reply. My problem is when trying to search for any information all I can find is related to low testosterone and how to treat that, when searching about high testosterone it is all related to females. I am trying to locate information about men who have very high testosterone levels who are not taking anything that would cause it, otherwise what natural or disorders would cause this to happen.

Hi WDD,
Here's an article from EveryDay Health that might help your search for answers https://www.everydayhealth.com/mens-health/the-myth-of-too-much-testosterone.aspx It lists health issues and symptoms linked with excess testosterone.

You also ask for information about testosterone producing tumors. Here is some information from the American Cancer Society on Signs and Symptoms of Adrenal Cancers https://www.cancer.org/cancer/adrenal-cancer/detection-diagnosis-staging/signs-symptoms.html

Have you talked to a doctor about your concerns?

I'm a 77 year old man an I am having problems getting my testosterone replacement therapy done at the VA Omaha. I have had 3 testosterone tests in he past month an their tests show my level to be on 1-26-18 total testosterone to be 2163 ng/dl an on 1-31-18 to be 1150 ng/dl an the last one on 2-15-18 at 742 ng/dl. I also took another test at the UNO Med Center just 20 minutes after giving the blood samples at the VA. The VA results was 742 ng/dl an the results at the UNO Med Center was 605.
I hope someone can tell me how a 77 Y.O. man can have this kind of wild test results.
I really don't trust the VA very much, They nearly killed me several years ago while doing surgery on me in the dental office. Supposed to have been a
1 hour out patient procedure an I was supposed to go home. I woke up the next day in intensive care with morphine in my IV an found that they had cut a large vein or artery in my neck an nearly bled me to death in the dentist office. I just hope our new Pres gets on the ball real fast an makes it so we have a choice of where we vets can be treated. Any way if someone has any info on how my testosterone levels could jump up an down like a yo yo I would sure appreciate your help. Thanks for any help you can give me on this. Hank
