MDFD and cataract surgery

Posted by datd2 @datd2, Mar 28, 2021

I had cataract surgery in rt. eye, the MDFD, it's been 7 weeks and my eye still burns and itches, I had a contact lens put on after 4 weeks for 6 days and back on resc, drops plus other drops, lens removed last Monday and eye is worse. back to being swollen or droopy lid, eye itches, at a loss, had MDFD in lt. eye 2 wks. ago [before cataract surgery and it seems to be healing fine. My vision is awful, one old presc. pair I can read through the distance part if I hold the glasses away from my face an inch or so, everything else is just blurry.

HELLO datd2... well 6pm here and up to bed, I find it more comfortable, first post in email this evening, yours and I feel so bad for you. I have various issues but hearing about someone else in pain, difficulty, struggling, at a loss.... just upsets me so. Are you a Senior like me?
I dont know too much about mdfd but have glaucoma, dry eyes and some double vision sometimes but have always had issues with any eye drop I have used.... I think its the same all over, even the drops given to dilate our eyes sting.... so they can't invent a drop to put in our eyes that doesn't sting... its
2021 !!! You have managed to find an old pair of glasses ... is it possible you can get some new ones to help you see more clearly... the prices even in Ontario for prescription glasses is ridiculously high so I am glad I put up working in a horrible environment, at least have the medical insurance ! Am sure you will hear from others about the drops you are on now.... and if there is an alternative ... sounds like you are allergic to one of the ingredients with the swelling etc? I havent found one I can truly say doesnt sting or feel sticky and I have tried just about every one for dry eyes.
Hope you get some relief soon, and have someone there to help and comfort you. Can you make the font on your computer larger and have some other vision aids? J.

hi and thank you, I have started to think it's one of the eye drop that is causing me my problem, except it is in just one eye so that sort of rules that out. I feel the cataract being done first was the issue in that eye and why he did the MDFD first in the other eye. Just wish I could get relief and i am wondering if trying to see to read is not causing a strain and worse in that yeye. I do have my font enlarged, to much makes things even worse. Thanks for your impute. I am now on a week of no drops before I see my surgeon again.

..... oh yes i remember trying new drops and even specialist said try one type of drop in right eye and other type of drop in left eye and it did make a difference, so could rule out the one drop that made it worse, although eventually even the original good one gave problems... I sometimes wonder if my eyeballs are just fed up with it all !! I dont really know to be quite honest, but they do sometimes talk about eye strain when reading so maybe would be a good idea to reduce it a bit til you see surgeon again? even today been on ipad too much and such tiny print but if i make it bigger goes off the page.... So its been worse since last Monday and you see surgeon in a week... hopefully things will have settled down more and he has some ideas... you have been through a lot. Take care, JUNE
