Quiet Forum

Seems like there’s not much shakin’ on the forum lately. I guess the “Vested” among us get plenty of the real “McCoy” and welcome a respite even if only a metaphorical one.
Feel free to roll your eyes at my silly efforts at humor. Don

@thumperguy Yes, Don, sometimes the forum gets quiet but that's ok. It makes you appreciate it more when it starts rolling again. And I love your silly efforts at humor. Life is too short and too hard not to laugh. I believe laughter is our panacea. Hope you have a wonderful holiday season. Nan

Hi Nan! I am so glad that I ran into you here. I have a question: what brand was that doggie crack treat you gave my little dog when we visited your shop? She went nuts over it and I would like to get her some for Christmas. I hope your business is doing well despite the 'rona virus'.

@windwalker, Terri, I sent you a photo via text of the bag of chicken jerky! And I don't think Beaufort Memorial is swamped yet but the numbers are growing. Since we've got the mask ordinance here I think we've done well at keeping it under control. I'll try and find out more. Nan

Nan, Teri mentioned “your business.” What kind of business do you operate? (Nosy) Don

@thumperguy Don, I have a retail store, (gift shop) in Beaufort, SC that I've been operating for 20 years and I sent you a private message with more details so you can check it out. Nan

I’ve been quiet the past couple of weeks, due to days preoccupied with medical treatments. Between three sessions a day with the nebulizer and SmartVest plus two IV infusions daily through a PICC line, I feel like I haven’t had time for much else. Thankfully, the PICC line and meropenem treatments came to an end Saturday, so life is sort of normal once more. Keeping fingers crossed that the IV sessions killed the bacteria they were supposed to kill. Meanwhile, Merry Christmas, everyone!

Well, my two weeks of IV infusions (which followed two weeks of Bactrim) gave me almost six days of improvement after the PICC line was taken out. On the seventh day after the PICC line, my old issues came back with a vengeance. Coughing fits were back, my sputum production increased considerably, and the color of sputum returned to the sickly green color that it was before all of these treatments started. Very depressing. I don't understand why things would bounce back so quickly to my former state after so many antibiotic treatments.

Has anybody else experienced this kind of negative rebound?

I had that issue with Pseudomonas 2 years ago - it took 4 courses, 4 different antibiotics, 2 of them inhaled, 2 oral - to finally knock it down. Maybe you have a similar situation, even though it is different bacteria? Quite a few years ago, one of my employees had achromobacter in his ear, and he had a PICC line with daily injections for 2 months - I recall it vividly because the ID nurse came to the office to do the injection.
