Stomach wont stop growling

Posted by hellokitty5 @hellokitty5, Oct 15, 2020

hello everyone i have come to get help. i have had stomach problems since april now, and i dont know what to do. i went to a GI doctor in July for a CT scan because i was having problems with constipation and diarrhea. my asshole was burning, and the doctor checked but theres nothing. i feel like theres a big lump in my stomach, and now my stomach wont stop growling and i dont poop normally like before. i do have a kidney stone that creates pain and makes me pee more but now the doctor says she couldnt find it on the scan. i was bloating so much before but i do not feel pain at all on a daily basis. idk what to do like.....???//

i also went to go get a blood test in june and the doctor said i have hyperthyrodism but this isnt related to my stomach. idk what to do. and whenever i touch my stomach, sometimes it moves around or inflates like a balloon and gets really hard and visible. i dont know if its a hernia, or what. nothing showed on the CT scan so im confused.

I have Gastroparesis.. that is a slow emptying stomach..That gives me that full feeling nearly all the waking day. Mayo Diagnosed that some 5 years ago.. I had some of those same problems but then there are other problems that can cause your symptoms.. Do you have a different GI doctor to go to...? Do that.. Do not rely on just one (not knowing where you are located I might assume your condition is not in the normal range that your doctor is used to seeing. Have you been to Mayo MN, Phoenix, or Jacksonville? If they are close, get a referral ... Boston General, M.D. Anderson in Houston are other alternatives.

Hi @hellokitty5 and welcome to Mayo Clinic Connect. I echo what @ken82 suggested regarding a second opinion from a GI physician. Here on Connect, we have a broad membership of people with all sorts of medical conditions. This offers a wide range of experience and medical "tips" even though it is not professional medical advice.
When you had the CT did your doctor order it with contrast? Did she suggest any other testing like a gastric emptying test or endoscopy/colonoscopy?

I had that growling that started out of the blue that I'd never had before and bloating along with it. My mother was the same. I drank a lot of lattes so a lot of milk. Lactose was the culprit so I stopped the milk products and the gurgling growling stopped also. My mother and daughter are both lactose intolerant. So the lactose issue got solved. I still have bloating after certain foods. It is a trial and error thing. I hate the error part.

Hello @hellokitty5,

It has been a while since you first posted about your stomach discomfort and growling. I was just wondering if you had found an answer to that problem yet? Have you looked at possible foods (like @donnacarp) suggested that might be the culprit? Some foods like gluten or dairy products and can difficult to digest and cause all sorts of problems.

I look forward to hearing from you again.

I used to have that lump off and on ALL the time. I still have it show up suddenly some days and it is dietary for me. Once I discovered the FODMAP information and began to eliminate the foods that are high on the list the issue lessened. FODMAP information is online and stands for a long description. It seems like it would be impossible but for example the highest on their list is to make sure to completely avoid onions and garlic. I don't pretend or even try to understand because I have struggled for so many years that I don't care about the "why". I just want to feel good. I put an app on my phone with the foods listed as OK and not OK so I would always have it with me. I screw up often because of FODMAPs hidden in processed food but overall I am better. I do not miss apples which was my very first "knot in the stomach" so many years ago.
