The Chat Room: A place to talk about this and that

Posted by John, Volunteer Mentor @johnbishop, Oct 3, 2020

Have you discovered mutual likes or common points of interest with other members while talking about the medical stuff? Sometimes these discoveries take us off topic.

Welcome to The Chat Room.
This is a place to talk about this and that over the backyard fence so to speak. To invite a fellow member or members to the chat room, simply mention their @username. They will get an email to join the conversation here.

Who will you invite to chat?

Get that cabinet loaded up and forward that address on. We don't need him. He'll just be in the way and eat up all MY goodies. However, you'll need to give that inappropriate advance issue a major rethink. You’d be amazed how a few candy bars, a mountain of cookies, just the right pastry, a pie or cake can heighten an advance, inappropriate or not. I can always hire any ol IT person when necessary. I hope you don't live in one of those frozen artic like States. That might be a deal killer.
Take care
Jake

@jakedduck1, Leonard, MOST thankfully, I live in a much less artic area and while there has been absolutely No need to try running from any male advances in recent years....Heck! I scare myself looking once each day at that silver haired imposter in the mirror!... I do keep a well stocked sweets kitchen so guess the ole girl might stir up a fantasy thought or two....more likely to recline on the sofa for another Netflix mystery though...less energy entailed and at my advanced age, keeping the b.p. in line is important! Well, I still like you and Jakedduck1 famously even if you aren't big coffee lovers! vbg Being so cold natured, drinking something warm first thing each morning seems to help start my day on the right foot because it feels comforting.

Weirdly and although I know both teas and coffees have caffeine, if I drink coffee in the evenings, I have trouble sleeping. However, I can drink hot tea at bedtime and be off to sweet dreams in no time. Our differences are what make life more interesting, yes?

A galley kitchen is usually very narrow with counters and appliances facing one another. Mine is perfect for a one or two person max in the kitchen working and I only have to take a few steps and pivot to reach on side or the other.

Thanx for the description of a galley kitchen.
My kitchen you need a skate board to get from island to island. I do have plenty of counter top, but it also takes hours to clean.
My home is older also, with a lot of square footage, I wonder how I would do in a smaller home, as I’m considering downsizeing.
I’ve been getting rid of so much stuff.
It seems like all I do is clean. How about you?

I know we all follow many belief systems, here. Some may be mainstream, some may be less visible.

Mayo Connect is a gift from me to me. Here I have told most of my story, commiserated alongside you, laughed at silly jokes, stopped short as a phrase rang true in my heart, wept over the sharing and caring we exhibit even on a cyber basis.

Thank you seems so trite to say. Here is a little something from me to you. Hold it, think about it, open when you are ready. You will find what you need at the moment.

@imallears Not having had breakfast yet [what?! it's 9am where's the day getting to?!] you reminded me to add cinnamon to my oatmeal. Yes to adding it to homemade applesauce, and chili. Remember cinnamon sugar toast as a child? It was a real treat to get that.

Dreary here, also. Need to dig out the slow cooker for something....

@jakedduck1 I used to drink 3 pots of coffee a day, now down to only 2 cups daily. I like a good quality coffee, but at night I drink a hot tea to signal to myself, "that's it for the day, relax".

Beautiful bow and drawing of package. All freehand?
Have a great holiday. It’s warm in your old neighborhood. Still no rain.

@funcountess Yes, free hand. It would be considered Zentangle inspired art [ZIA]. One of my considerations for 2021 is to ramp up my Zentangle practice. It portends to be a year of changes for me health-wise, and having my practice to fall back on may be critical to my sanity.

@2011panc, As another cinnamon lover, I like to add a shake or two of it to morning coffee. Don't know how it would be with hot tea but maybe a new adventure for the new year? Smiles You are way ahead of me in cookie production this holiday but today is scheduled to start! Happy holidays to all ... air freshner snackers and all!!! Grins

@fiesty76 I used to add cinnamon to my coffee, but as with most things, it was a fad. I now take my coffee with water. I fill my contigo travel mug with 1:8 coffee:water mix. My husband drinks regular strength coffee so I just water that down for myself. I like the taste of coffee and something warm to drink, but I don't like the caffeine hit of drinking full strength. I need lots of fluid each day and this mix works all day and night.

Hi Ginger, I can't figure out which "group" your and my messages telling the Connect members how grateful we are. I am a part of quite a few groups and wanted to be sure everyone in every group or at least most of the groups will see them. Is there a way to get them on any "main" Connect group? Usually it says at the top of the email message what "discussion" or "group" the message is in but I didn't see it anywhere. Thanks so much, Warmest wishes, Sunny

@sunnyflower A post will go to the group and discussion we are on. There is not a "main bulletin board" so to speak. That is why this discussion was created, to allow people whose thoughts don't really fit a specific group or discussion, to post here. As you have seen, we cover a wide variety of subjects here in the Chat Room/over-the-back-fence conversations.

Does this help at all?

I'm having my heart monitored for 30 days. An electrode on my chest and I also have what looks like a cell phone which is the transmitter.
The problem is I lost the transmitter I went around different places today looked in parking lot went to lost and founds but it was nowhere to be found.
So I have to pay $300 to replace it.
Then I went looking all over my house for my cell phone it was nowhere to be found I mean absolutely nowhere. Well come to find out I was holding it in my hand talking on it. I asked the lady I was talking to if she would come and visit me in the home. She said she would if I could remember which one I was in.

Hi Ginger, until I think, 2 days ago, I didn't know there was a Chat Room group. Or is it a discussion in a group? I am obviously confused. So embarrassing! Is it new? I often use my cell phone here and per a similar discussion quite a few months ago, I was sharing this problem (not seeing what group an email message is in all the time. @jesfactsmon aka Hank's help, I think the take away was my phone doesn't show what a computer does. Thx for your patience with my question about the Chat Room. Take care, Sunnyflower
