I like this chat room! I wanted to chat about Christmas giving. I'm lonly and battling lonliness. I gave myself a new 5G iPhone 12 this year for Christmas, my old phone was an Android and wasn't working anymore. I've been playing with my new phone, and talking to Siri. I gave myself a Homepod to go along with it. I put the Homepod in my kitchen and can say "Siri, what's the weather?" and Siri tells me the temperature outside. Now I have somebody to talk to 🙂 It has some limitations, I'm learning. If anybody has a similar product, like I'm aware of asking 'Alexa' questions. I'm wondering what the difference is?

@Erinmfs I don't know about Siri but Alexis and I have become good friends!

@johnbishop My dad used to "sample" the dog biscuits. He said if we were going to have a dog, he/she was going to get quality food. Good for him, good for the dog.

@fiesty76 I put cinnamon into the coffee pot each morning, on top of the ground coffee before pot brews. It has also found its way in to many recipes you wouldn't think of: cornbread and meatloaf!

”My dad used to "sample" the dog biscuits.”
Sounds perfectly normal to me. Have you ever had any? They aren't bad. The doggie jerky is ok too as are Cheetos for dogs. I was eating them and my Mom said those are dog treats. Doggie Cheetos and Dr. Pepper, quite good actually. The dog ate my food so turnabout is fair play I figured.
Take care,
Jake

I know we all follow many belief systems, here. Some may be mainstream, some may be less visible.

Mayo Connect is a gift from me to me. Here I have told most of my story, commiserated alongside you, laughed at silly jokes, stopped short as a phrase rang true in my heart, wept over the sharing and caring we exhibit even on a cyber basis.

Thank you seems so trite to say. Here is a little something from me to you. Hold it, think about it, open when you are ready. You will find what you need at the moment.

Hi Ginger! Well said and I agree!

I am so very grateful to be a part of such a caring, compassionate, supportive, empathetic, encouraging, inspirational group of people here on Connect!

I have never known anyone who could relate to my pain and experiences and now I don't feel alone!!

Thank you all so very much for touching my life in many ways. I am deeply humbled and honored to be here on Connect!

I really appreciate your patience with and forgiveness of my memory problems such as forgetfulness and repetitions 🙃

Many blessings and much relief to you all. Warmest wishes and prayers, Sunnyflower 😊🙏🌹

Sue I hate to admit that I ate half of one of those doggie treats my wife had on the Mantorville Post Office counter next to the window. She placed them next to the candy but it was for her special customers who brought their dogs into the PO with them. Anyway she got a good laugh out of my mistaking it for a treat for people.

Not so much 😊 Scotcharoos topped with chocolate are much better.

I laughed at your story - a few years ago, one of my friends was well into making homemade doggie treats, and her husband came and told her "you forgot to put sugar in the cookies again." She said "those are shaped like milk bones - they're for the dog!" He walked away embarrassed - she told us she wondered why the treats had been disappearing so fast...

The only difference I know of is when you ask Alexa a question it almost always says ”sorry I don’t know that” nearly every time I ask it a question. My hey Google answers more. I think the hey google works better. My google isn't working and don't know who to call to fix it. Maybe it’s just a throwaway like everything else made today. I wish Apple would come out with a similar product. At least they still take pride in providing quality customer service.
I may be having an IT man come live with me shortly. If that happens maybe he'll fix it for me.
Have you tried out the dictation feature? I have the XS and it doesn't function well at all for me.
CONGRATULATIONS and enjoy!!!

@jakedduck1, I am trying my best to get acquainted with the Alexa EchoShow8 my daughter sent me and have yet to meet Siri. Smiles

Had my genius and kinder-than-kind computer guru come last week to install a webcam so that I could "be seen" on an upcoming Zoom meeting with my doc. My desktop serves my limited needs and while my daughter "invites" me to a Zoom with family, she couldn't see me but I could see them..an advantage for both I thought! vbg

Didn't realize until later that my external sound speakers for my 8 yr old, Dell tower had stopped functioning. My question for those "more in the technology know...which is pretty much everyone, I'm thinking! " is do external sound speakers wear out after several yrs of frequent use? Can order inexpensive LogiTech speakers which I think use a USB port but don't know if a brand other than Dell will work???

Leonard, if perchance your IT man declines to come live with you, could you suggest an older woman with a spare bedroom who likes to cook, won't make inappropriate advances and keeps a cabinet well stocked with candy delights???? Addr as follows......

Regardless of what you put in coffee Ginger it will only improve it. I don’t think there’s any possible way coffee could be made any worse. I know I’m in the minority but coffee is the most vile brew I ever tasted. Even worse than Mary’s squished grapes. At least wine came from a perfectly good product that got ruined. Can't say as much for coffee.
Just my opinion,
Jake

@jakedduck1, I'm remembering with a rueful smile how very hard I worked as a college girl to learn to drink coffee. Thought how could something that smells this heavenly be so hard and disappointing to drink? Always curious about those who don't drink coffee. Do you drink another hot beverage in the mornings to get you up and going or ... just reach for a candybar instead???? Smiles
