Percussion Vests: Are you using one? Is it working for you?

Anyone willing to guess how many “regulars” on this forum use a vest?

@thumperguy

At my last half-hour Percussion Vest/Nebulizer session I decided to experiment a bit; I ditched the Thumper. Whether it was an unrelated coincidence is anyone's guess, but I had a very productive session which easily convinced me that I should continue this routine for a while and monitor how things go. Not only does it result in a shorter session since it doesn't take 30 minutes to neb the vial of saline, but it is less "nerve wracking." For the moment the Jury is out. Don

If the junk comes out, maybe you don't need the vest now that your lungs are mostly clear? Or maybe only once a day? I don't know how you have managed all this time - the mere idea of a twice-daily thumping gives me vertigo!

After putting up the post immediately above Sue’s, it struck me that it’s sorta at odds with an earlier one in which I spoke of enjoying the time spent each day tethered to airway clearing equipment. Maybe being human enables us to legitimately claim, that depending on our momentary state of mind, both things can be true. Don

Don I haven’t spent much responding but I like your responses. I need to stop feeling sorry for me.

Thanks Jane, I like to think of my attitude and related behavior as “laughing at the Devil.” The devil of course, our lung ailments. Don

@thumperguy Don, the way I look at it is, if you can get the junk out without the vest then just use it every now and then. At this point right now in my life I can get the junk out with just postural drainage..lying on my back and doing huff coughs and then I do my saline afterwards. I figure I might as well clean them out first and then use the 7% to clean them out even more. Nan

Whatever works as long as it doesn’t carry jail time. Right? 😉

Anyone know of an instance in which use of a percussion vest is suspected of resulting in unintended problems in “random” body structures or systems? Don

@thumperguy do you suspect that the vest is doing you harm?

No Colleen, I just got to thinking the other night that the steady "diet" of vibration to our upper torso, internal organs, brain, etc. isn't exactly something that we're optimally adapted to based on our evolutionary history. Now, maybe someone on the forum who actually knows something about adaptation, evolutionary history and so on, can chime in and expose me for the dilettante I am. LOL Don

I have one of those machines. Even though I don't like to use it, I have had no problems using it
