Body in denial

Posted by cldmeyers @cldmeyers, Jul 21, 2020

Does anyone else have a body that resists getting out of bed or going from one place to another once it is up? I'm 86 and have a very active brain and am involved in readers theater and choir. Once I get to an activity, I'm fine, but there's a lot of pain in getting there. Sometimes I think I may be depressed because of not wanting to move from one place to another. Thoughts?

@cldmeyers I agree My mind is always active but body isn't ,once I make the effort, doing a lot of talking to myself ,I'm o.k.afterwards It's just getting started

If I'm singing or reading a play, I feel no pain. Even visiting with family doesn't block the pain.

I've made a decision. Finally decided none of the pain is going away by ignoring it or doing soft exercises. Saw general practitioner, she sent me to a sports medicine doc, and he's sent me to pt for my patellafemoral syndrome and achilles problem and to a hand surgeon for my wonky left thumb. Let the games begin.

First step. Hand surgeon included me in the decision to have an injection of cortisone in the "heel" of my thumb to see if it will break up the pain in the thumb. Day one.

I had the same thing done today on the heel of my thumb. It is my left hand.

I went to my surgeon to get an injection in that "heel." My surgeon told me to just limit the activities that cause the pain. [Me: Doc, it hurts when I do that. Doc: don't do that!] He also gave me a wrist/thumb orthotic. It's a bit cumbersome. Google: Procare Quick-Fit W.T.O.

My left hand, too, and I'm left handed. This is day 3 and it's very comfy.
