Constant Diarrhea

Posted by suzanne2 @suzanne2, Jun 17, 2020

Anyone here have constant diarrhea? I practically live on lomotil pills. I know my nerves play somewhat of a role but not always. Some days I live in the bathriom.
I have never had a diagnosis for my problem.

Etiology unknown. The only cause is possibly my age. I'm 82, with no other GI problems ever! My CT scan showed atrophy of my pancreas. Zenpep is working for me, but I still have 2-4 bm's a day & are mushy (like a cow pattie!). How's that for a graphic description? Lol
Thanks so much for the related info you provided.

@suzanne2 - It’s been a while- how are you doing? Ow was your Mayo visit?

REPLY

@astaingegerdm I am doing good. Was at Mayo in July but do wish I lived closer so I could continue with the specialist I saw there.

@suzanne2- I'm happy for you! I think you can still consult with your Mayo doctor via phone or maybe telemedicine. I talked with my doctor when needed. I visited about once a year. Happy New Year!

@lucky1038 I have thankfully conquered my diarrhea problem thanks to a gastroenterologist at Mayo. I saw him in July and had a colonoscopy and was diagnosed with microscopic colitis. He prescribed Budesonide which I took for almost 2 months, as prescribed! For the first time since 2016 I don't have to worry about where a bathroom is when I go somewhere! Only praises for this doc!

@suzanne2 @lucky1038 Budesonide is a steroid but one that is different of use in gastro problems.. Read the following link for more information.. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3513866/ Which Mayo did you go to for help? Ken
